Monique 'Mo Melody' Dehaney

Bio:

Monique Dehaney Jazz, Reggae, R&B Singer/Songwriter Monique Dehaney, a Jamaican-born reggae-soul singer emerged onto the music scene in Japan in 2005. Since then she has done a variety of work ranging from wedding performances and live Jazz Bar gigs to singing back up for artistes such as Nakajima Mika, Atsushi (from Exile) and Boys to Men. After relocating to Tokyo in 2007, Monique began reinforcing her musical skills with a vocal coach as well as guitar and piano lessons. Following in the footsteps of artistes such as Nina Simone, Mariah Carey and Chrisette Michele, Monique hopes to establish herself as a strong female performer with the potential to move audiences with her melodious mezzo voice. Her love of singing and performing, cultivated at a very early age by her parents, keeps her motivated and head-strong as she continues her musical journey. Monique’s jazzy-soulful tone is infused with a dancehall reggae background, which distinguishes her voice from her contemporaries. Currently, Monique is hard at work on her debut album featuring original songs, “Look of Love” which is set to a dancehall rhythm and “Scarlett Letter” which has a sultry R&B vibe. Her hope is to have these singles in rotation sometime this year before the release of her album.
