Welcome to Mellowtone. For the uninitiated amongst you we are collective of like-minded souls putting on regular evenings of live music and DJs in a variety of the most intimate venues across and around Liverpool.
You can find rootsy country blues on the same bill as intricate and delicate folk, or perhaps a band playing an stripped down set - it’s a laid back affair, and though we’re predominately acoustic in outlook, our focus is on showcasing the best music around.
We’re also quite partial to plugging things in, and between the live music our resident DJs, Richie Vegas and Musica del Alma, spin a laid back selection of grooves spanning funk, soul, blues, jazz, afrobeat, hiphop, reggae and anything else that tickles their fancy. Our resident compere – Monkey – takes care of the introductions.
The spiritual home of Mellowtone is the View Two gallery, the intimate artspace perched high above Mathew Street, but we often gather at different locations around the city. Over the years Mellowtone has been found lurking at 3345 Parr Street, The Magnet, Tate Liverpool, The Zanzibar, Korova, The Everyman Bistro, Leaf, Kelly’s Dispensary, Parr Street Studio 2, The Performance Room, The Resident’s Lounge, Hope Street Hotel, Resurrection, and, gone but not forgotten, Quiggins, Heart & Soul, Café Latte and The Kif.
We also squeeze in link-ups when we can with some of the party people we encounter, including Liverpool Music Week, Sound City!, Resurrection, CALM, Lake of Stars Festival, Gold in the Shade, Beaten Tracks, Northern Lights, Downstairs Disco, Acoustic Club, Platform Radio, Family Folk Up, Acoustica, Parr Street, Late at Tate, Thursdays at 3345, Superfly Comedy, Musica Del Alma, Liverpool Comedy Festival, Lazy Genius, Dockyard Studio, Art in Liverpool, Beaten Tracks, RedHouseOriginals, Souljackin, Joel Ransom, Soulful Vibes, Evol and every now and again we do our bit for good causes and throw a party for charity.
From delivering the very best acts from the city’s thriving music scene to our ever expanding band of faithful followers as well as bringing performers from further afield for our pleasure and yours, Mellowtone’s dreamers and schemers are on a nomadic quest to spread good times through intimate soirees with a heartbeat of live acoustic music…………………
