Based out of a bedroom in Oxfordshire and armed with an arsenal of home-made instruments, from modified 80s Casios to keytars and kids toys - Mewgatz make some of the most schizophrenic and chaotic yet beautifully subtle and fragile music we have ever heard.
Mewgatz is named after a child’s mispronunciation (or is that misconception) of music.

This guerrilla art-form involves taking an electronic noise making device such as a keyboard or a furby and intentionally buggering about with its circuitry, shorting out specific points on the circuit-board to create sounds that were never before thought possible or even desirable. It's great.

The songs on this EP were constructed around the brain of a £3 Yamaha keyboard and an 80's keytar. The ‘Underfelt’ EP has been generously described as "30 minutes of dark and harrowing basement pop" which pleases us greatly. Underfelt pays homage our my fascination with original keyboard presets and demo songs. The tracks fuse glitching preset bossanova beats with delicate guitar chord progressions and tender untrained vocals, schizophrenically remixing popular contemporary tracks until they’re bent out of all recognition. These are lo-fidelity electronic ballads drenched in raw, passionate, and vulnerable emotion. We hope you enjoy. Message us if you do.

On Saturday 11th August at the Port Mahon In Oxford, Dirty Boys Live Promotions is presenting “Friendly Ghost Day Out” Its a special UK Independent Showcase of fresh new talent. Some of the most innovative bands on some of the most ground braking labels will be strutting there stuff at the all day event with such artist as. Meet Me In St. Louis, Untitled Music Project, A Genuine Freakshow and Mewgatz are just some of the new wave of independent music on offer.
