I strive to make each piece sound unique, and to intentionally keep my music from being recognizable as "me." In this fashion, one cannot presume they dislike my music, as each piece should sound as from a different composer.
That is, ideally.
I am aware that I have inherent techniques and qualities that are indicative of me, i.e. a style.
Born in 1988, Michael A. Garman has been composing for 5 years, and has written over 200 pieces. His works range from highly tonal to extremely experimental, with some notable recent pieces such as "Sound Happens" for 20 computers, "Characteristics" for Double Bass and Voice, and "Hold Fast" for Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble, written for Euphonium Virtuoso Brian Bowman.
Michael A. Garman is a Junior at the University at North Texas where he is pursuing a Bachelor's of Music degree in Composition, with Clarinet as his concentration instrument. He studies with Cindy McTee and Deborah Fabian.
He readily accepts commissions without charge, with recent ones including "Variations on a Decisive Theme" for Eric Andress, and "Kosterman Sketches" for Rod Kosterman.
