Bio:

I'm a B-boy at heart and have been since hip hop hit our shores in the early 80's. I could be seen all over the south east of England break dancing, locking and shocking! Djing came at and early age (11) and fulfilled me for a few years and still does, but I wanted something more. Instead I wanted to MAKE the music I was playing, in particular THE FUNK! Hip hop highlights the essence of funk, jazz and to a certain extent the blues also. I started my music making career as a funk drummer but quickly developed skills as a keyboard player, guitarist (Bass and lead) and programmer and producer using computers and all things music tech! My first single (4 track EP) came out in 94 on small independent MONKEY FUNK (Orin from BUGZ in the attic) under the name NOW and THEN (a co production with producer and musician Paul Douglas). This was well received and led to my first solo EP "Starchild" on the same label (co Produced by Rod Mansell -SONY Oxford). From here I worked and released works with ACID JAZZ Records (Mother Earth, Jamiroquai etc) namely with MOTHER EARTH, some of which were released on the album 'THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF MOTHER EARTH' in 2004 (I play the hammond and guitars on the gil scott cover of lady day and john coltrane). I now work and teach in music technology and production at Thames Valley University and am currently working on original new funk recordings with the FUNKSHONE Project (see my top friends) and a more electronic approach with prog breaks act COALESCED.
