Mary Elizabeth is a 5 year old girl in our community that is battling a very serious illness. Mary Elizabeth has
what is called a Pontine Brainstem Glioma (brain stem tumor). This was discovered when doctors were trying to correct an eye problem.
Doctors at Casey Eye Institute wanted to do an MRI and double-check her vision problem. At that time her doctor felt that she was seeing the same problem with Mary’s eyes, crossing and not much improvement with the first surgery. The next evening after her MRI, her family received a call from Casey Eye Institute saying that something came up on her test that looked like a Brainstem Glioma.
After a Brainstem Glioma is found, without treatment a child is expected to have only 12 to 18 months to live. With this type of tumor you can’t operate because it is in the brain stem; chemo doesn’t penetrate the blood brain barrier and with radiation it may shrink the tumor for a while but it comes back bigger and more angry.
Alternative treatment at the Burzynski Clinic in Houston, Texas, is Mary’s ONLY hope of survival if God does not heal her.
Mary has been on her treatment now for nearly twelve months and has had two MRI’s since starting treatment and both have shown that her tumor is stable. The cost of this treatment is $7,000 per month. Her family's medical insurance will not cover these treatments, because they are considered 'alternative treatment.' Mary's condition has recently hit the twelve month mark and these treatments have obviously helped her~PLEASE help Mary Elizabeth continue to receive the treatments with the HOPE of sustaining a long, helthy and normal life.

Tic Toc, Tic Toc… Hours gone; hours approach, one more years almost gone by…Who can stop time?
I pray heavenly blessings to be granted from God to you during this New Year that is to arrive. My desire is that this year, 2009, the Lord may provide you with strength that you may experience success and victory. We don’t know what the year may bring, but with the King of our souls walking by our side we are sure to climb the mountains, cross the valleys and know that He is present in every storm that may darken our sunshine to help us walk through the violent winds. With Him, we surely could walk on the waters of desperations and not drown.
May the Lord sing songs of salvation and freedom so you may see the bound set free and that you may see His glory and grace working in every situation that you may confront.
Abundant joy I desire that you may choose to receive and with open arms may peace reign in your soul. May the faith of Christ be the strength of another year of existence on this journey under the stars, the moon and the sun.
