Miss Mamie Lavona sings and plays castanets. She is not unlike a fine wine: desired by many, enjoyed by few. Clearly the best looking member of the group, Miss Mamie has left broken hearts from here to Gainsville.
Hugh Jardon sings, makes inappropriate comments and plays ukulele. Many consider him superfluous, though he is perhaps best described as appropriately loathsome.
Tyrone D'Embeautailles sings and plays alto saxophone, guitar and accordion. Though born in the sweltering expanses of the Louisiana bayou, he is surprisingly pasty.
Otto O'Shaugnessy sings and plays accordion, trumpet, slide trumpet, cornet and piano. An Irishman by birth, Otto's parents fell afoul of a group of traveling gypsy magicians, who absconded with the youth to their home in Germany. Otto spent his formative years perfecting his accordion technique in many a legendary brothel.
Scott Free sings and plays the upright bass. When not expounding upon the virtues of sadomasachism, Scott supplies liquor and facial hair.
Spike plays the drums and sings his ass off. Though a virtuous orthodontist by training, years of disappointment have allowed Spike to master the art of walking out on a tab.
"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
