   About All of the Above
Dear Friends:

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the demise of
The Salon @ Wilde Roast Café.

10/11 was our final show.

The Salon has been the one way I could "refill my pitcher" each week, to be able to continue pouring my love and energy into my heroic son as he fights his cancer. These Thursday nights have meant more to me than you can possibly imagine. A million times, thank you.

I have an intense desire continue to serve both artists and audiences by providing this weekly showcase, to broaden our horizons, connect with stimulating people, and strengthen community. Through live music, theatre, poetry, good manners, and intelligent discussion, we can share sincere and passionate ideas and a love of the arts. I am seeking a new venue immediately, so that we may continue this vital dialogue, through music and spoken word. If you have any leads, please contact henry@braincandyproject.org as soon as possible.

I am grateful to Scott Dercks, for sticking by me these last couple of years. You have been such a gift, my friend.

I am grateful to Steve Hegman for jumping into the Piano Bar Night with so much grace and talent, and for believing in me.

I am grateful to my weekly guests who kept coming and coming, week after week, to share your passion, culture and class with our audiences.

I am grateful to Tom DeGree & Dean Schlaak for their support this year, and encourage you all to keep patronizing Wilde Roast Café (www.wilderoastcafe.com).

And I am grateful to you, dear Friends, for your constant support, patronage and love over this past year. This has simultaneously been the best and worst year of my life,
as most of you know.

I will keep you updated as The Salon searches for its new home.

In Service,

Henry Allen
"aut delectare aut prodesse est" (To please and educate.)

Salons, at their best, have always been frontiers of social and cultural change. The Salon reintroduces this historic tradition, providing an opportunity to broaden our horizons, connect with stimulating people, and strengthen community. Through live music, theatre, poetry, good manners, and intelligent discussion, we will share sincere and passionate ideas and a love of the arts. Each week, Henry Allen will feature established performers, poets, and public figures, as well as emerging talents. "aut delectare aut prodesse est" (To please and educate.)

IN THE NEWS: CLICK HERE FOR A RECENT ARTICLE ABOUT YOUR HOST
HENRY ALLEN!

Dear Friends:
It was discovered on 11/27/06, through an MRI, that Henry Allen's son Cameron had a massive tumor (about the size of a large peach) in the middle of his brain, resting on his brain stem. Most of the tumor has since been removed, and the rest is being treated with chemotherapy & radiation. CLICK to go to CAMERON'S PLACE for updates, etc. Feel free to leave messages and ask questions in the guestbook there. We'll try to post answers and updates regularly. Cameron, himself, has been writing an amazing journal about his experience!

Financial gifts are needed to help support Cameron and Henry during this difficult time. The time and care required for Henry to serve Cameron's needs preclude his ability to work outside the home. Please go to PAYPAL and follow the prompts on the SEND MONEY page. Send To healthynoggin@aol.com Every contribution helps. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Checks can be mailed to:
Henry Allen

PERFORMERS/ARTISTS & FRIENDS: If you are interested in participating in a fundraiser for Cameron & Henry, please leave a message for BEC SMITH on her MySpace page, and she will get back to you.

My first book of poetry is now available worldwide. It’s called Ordinary Poems for Extraordinary People in these Ordinary Times. You can click here for more information, a compilation of my readers' favorite poems of mine, and excerpts of various reviews of my book.

I'd truly be honored if you bought yourself or a loved one a copy of my book. Hit me up anytime... Peace.

A poem for your day:
.
.
Rest In All Love Is
------------------
I love you like this...
dark, i can barely see your eyes...
so dark my eyes are useless. My
heart opens wide its light on you
and your face brightens like the
static on a TV screen, or like the moment
we die and things begin to go all white
and
then
you're an angel laying before me...
the same one that has been there all along,
the one my eyes turned into something else and I
am ashamed I was deceived.
Then,
I see you, I see you like the energy that flows through my limbs,
now, like the breath that takes the universe and
gently creates another, now, like my feet walking
on glass, now, like I was never there.

I love you like I was never there. So gently, never there. In the dark
where I can barely see, and, rest in all that love is.

A poem for your day:
.
.
My Friend

I look at you my Friend and I see a child at play
frolicking in muddy streams, splashing rivers into
oceans and carrying each molecule gently
to the sky for another round like a child handing water to his Father
for the first time.

You are neither boastful nor meek.
You are not shy nor are you seeking attention
There is simply abundance and grace with you my Friend
and you ask nothing of me...save I am my self...fully...always... and
you ask without asking...lead without
leading...cause...effortlessly.

My Friend, it is simple with You.
