"Rollicking, pretty songs built on piano and keyboards, complete with undertow. Comparisons to the New Pornographers are not out of line, though the Modern Skirts are a bit more American sounding (if that makes any sense at all). Something in the way the boys manage their eccentricities, I guess. More Beach Boys and less prog. Or maybe I'm just imagining all that. What I can say is that the Modern Skirts are earnest in their own freakish way, and that gives them a most distinctive sound. Comparisons may (and do) abound, but this here's something unique. Kinda like if the Beach Boys did time with some Americana folks, dropping in some rootsy notes to go with scintillating melodies and gorgeous harmonies. Pretty, but grounded in reality. One of those albums that attracts instantly and then gets better from there. Infatuation matures into love most quickly." - Pop Matters

I missed your AthFest show b/c I was at REM in ATL. What I need to do is fly to Amsterdam to see that gig--then I could have the best of THIS, THAT and the OTHER.
Couldn't let you venture across the POND without wishing you the absolute BEST! I LOVE you guys and thoroughly enjoyed your performance at Mercy in Nashville. I hope you are getting some sleep because I've been on "band time" with Parachute Musical for the last 6 days now and its killing me! I mean, bedtime averages 4:00 a.m. .... Sorry for the short lived vomit I keep spewing but the more I listen the more I like. Your Brooklyn gig, even though very small didn't do you justice. The more I listen the more I'm sucked in. Can't wait to hear more new stuff as what you've posted past and present are excellant. After seeing your live stuff I now understand. Sorry I'll flush the puke down the toilet now. You guys groove with each tune I repeat....I hope Europe goes good....I know it will cause it 8n't the US. Cheerio, Claude
Forgot to say I liked your set better than Unicycle although you guys should really have your bass player or at least one of you in a see through number with a thong....wink-wink. Cheers, Claude
