About me: Mono is an exciting bar and restaurant, proudly serving drinks and home cooked dishes, all free of meat, fish and dairy products. Mono is renowned for it's relaxing atmosphere, encouraging it's customers to spend time having dinner, drinks, reading or simply listening to the great music provided by inbuilt record shop Monorail.
This week (4th November) we are featuring 'AsGuests' who will play an extended first set @ 7.30pm. AsGuests (www.myspace.com/asguests )won in 2004 the Pim Jacobs Muziek Prijs and The Dutch Jazz Competition, hosted annually by the North Sea Jazz Festival. At the core of the band is vibist Miro Herak and pianist Michal Vaňouček who founded AsGuests in 1997. The group has engaged in many collaborations and tours throughout Europe. Here they make their first trip to Scotland and featuring alto saxophonist Paul Towndrow in this exciting line up. The musical ethos of AsGuests has always been about challenging the boundaries of styles, bringing new sounds and combination of instruments together, often with interesting results and always on the cutting edge.
Second Set.. will be the regular house band hosting a jam session.
Next week, the 11th of November, our guest will once again be tenor saxophonist John Burgess from Edinburgh.
