   Moon Tower Radio's Blurbs
About me:
none Moon Tower Radio is a two-hour music program that offers listeners an escape from the droning poison of heavy rotation commercial radio. Broadcast from the South's last bastion of free speech on KPFT 90.1 FM in Houston, it can be heard every Friday afternoon from 3:00-5:00 pm CST, and thanks to the wonders of modern science, the Internet supplies the antidote world wide at www.kpft.org. KPFT is a listener-sponsored commercial-free radio station and part of the Pacifica family. In essence, Moon Tower Radio represents the forgotten greatness of rock music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. It reminds you that bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Deep Purple and Mountain did some amazing tunes that weren’t hits, while introducing you to prog & krautrock artists like Amon Duul II, Gentle Giant and Faust. The show is also peppered with punk like Black Flag, Dead Kennedys and Bad Brains. Psychedelic sounds by the likes of 13th Floor Elevators and Iron Butterfly can be heard, and the show has been known to get funky, bluesy and just plain weird. No MTR show is complete without our “Frank at 4:00” segment. We believe that Frank Zappa embodies the spirit of what the show is all about. Requests are encouraged and always taken over the phone during the show, but while you’re here, why don't you just e-mail us one. The show is hosted by Carlos Lama and Darren Ray Mayo, two record collecting geeks who have an unbridled passion for the finer aesthetics of good music. The lovely Cara Kristin is now a part of the crew giving the show a much needed dose of estrogen. Why not join them? none none none none

Awesome... I became a member of the station on Friday- thanks to your awesome show. Any way I could hear "It Just Might be a One shot deal" from Waka/Jawaka? It would totally be worth the money to hear that song over the air

I share equally in your disdain....Something disgustingly absurd about the partaking of liquid secretion from livestock....
Have a Terrific Whatever...

Ha! I still have the shirt somewhere. If not I bet we could order some. I used to wear that thing to school and the peeps at NBH thought I was nuts. If you have any pictures to post to this site let me know. I will give you the log on information. I feel like it is a free site to all of us "kooks" that were outcasts at NBH!

Thanks for being a friend of the Jesse Bernstein tribute page!

Comments on Jesse and his works are welcomed.

"The test of the integrity of a poem, or any work of art, may be, simply: does it lead, in the end, to freedom, or does it merely expand the arena of confinement? A voice from the outside, truly, is what we need to hear. Even a single word. Even something that is not a word, but suggests such a word."
