MTN's sound is a fusion of the very best U.S. Punk (Blink 182, Greenday, and
Rancid) combined with a dash of good old U.K. street punk (Clash, UK Subs,
Filth F.C.)! Live, MTN are an awesome, high energy Punk Rock band that will get
even the most jaded heads nodding! In today's climate of lame, limp wristed
Busted clones, and talent-less teenage fame suburbia with mock California
accents, MTN came through in a very welcomed breath of fresh air. Their on
stage shenanigans and “have a laugh attitude” have had them recieve rave reviews up and down the country.
You join our heroes in the 7th year of their rise to fame and fortune. . .
The latest installment of the saga sees our intrepid band More Than Normal battling against every evil known to band-kind
In the last year More Than Normal’s debut album, ‘Honour Amongst Thieves’, has been released through “Dent’all Records” receiving 3/5 and this review in “Big Cheese Magazine” amongst others and also selling in excess of 1000 copies!!
As ever More Than Normal have been conquering crowds at shows far and wide, most noticeably their show stopping performances at “Concrete Jungle ‘07” headlining the B Stage and as main support to [Spunge] at the awesome “Extraction Fest ‘07”
With offers of shows flooding in from not only their native soil but such foreign plains as far as china, Sweden and the U.S.A it seemed nothing could stop our punk rocking trio, not even the bumbling efforts of the diabolical N.H.S, rescheduling vital back surgery on Al, would sway our heroes from completing their mission of rocking the planets face off!!
But then disaster, as festival season struck the hype from the 1st album started to die off and a dry spell in shows loomed, like Jabba at an all you can eat Jedi buffet,
More Than Normal headed for high ground and retreated to the protection of the dungeons of the loo-ie-arm-strong a popular hide out for intergalactic song smugglers.
There the young apprentices trained with jager (yayger) and honed their skills in songwriting, performance and of course the jager mind trick!
Emerging triumphant with a handful of powerful punk rock demos, More Than Normal gained the attention of Production and Management house “The Animal Farm” (who are currently working with and representing “One Night Only”(Vertigo), Quad Riot(Fierce Panda) and Tara Blaise(Spoke/Warner) with this rebel alliance in place the circle was now complete.
More Than Normal now back on winning form plan to record their new tracks in house at “Atomic Studios” London and release them with help and guidance of “The Animal Farm” council!
The saga continues. . .
Big Cheese Honour Amongst Thieves Review
MORE THAN NORMAL
HONOUR AMONGST THIEVES
(Dent’all)
Debut from this snotty Brit punk trio.
JJJ
This young three piece punk trio hail from darkest Kent and pump out high octane melodic punk that has something of a gritty English edge to it. Heavy doses of Green Day inspiration lurk beneath the drawl of UK forefathers like Consumed. This is evident in songs like ‘Fight Back’ and ‘Better Days’. It’s good to see a Brit band draw inspiration from across the pond but don’t let it saturate their sound. This sticking to your guns and being true to your roots ethos is what might set this band apart from the plagiarists out there right now. MTN will appeal to punks young and old and through time as they firm their sound they could be the ones to watch. For now ‘Honour Amongst Thieves’ is a solid debut.
