It's only me... G. I am working on different projects whereas one is called GLIM. It is on my top friends list if you want to listen. There you will find me working with the FANTASTIC Mille. Feel free to check it out. We will get more songs onto there, promise.
Then I am working with the fantastic(!!) Bia and her poems. The project is called Music & Poetry but that is subject to possible change. Bia has released the first video with her poem
Denial together with my music (which was inspired by the poem). She now released the other one. Have a look yourselves!
So there are different other projects being worked on right now. So you know, I am DEFINITELY open for offers. So let me know if you have some.
I do have another page and that you can access it here: Glen Gabriel
I GUESS this page is a bit more personal than the Glen Gabriel one because I administer this one myself. However, I do see BOTH of the profile's traffic. So feel free to write to any of them and I WILL receive your communication!
Influences
I have A LOT of influences. But when growing up, there was A LOT of movies that I was watching and I just couldn't help but LOVING the music! I was kinda sick and tired of hearing lyrics and the same ones over and over. So I felt that "hey! Here is some music with NO lyrics.
Therefore, my influences are: John Williams, James Horner, Jerry Goldsmith, James Newton Howard, Howard Shore, John Ottman, Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, Mike Oldfield, The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Chrystal Method, Rage Against the Machine... With many others. The order that I gave above has NOTHING to do with preference but was just the order it came to mind.
So there you have my music influences. Thanks a million for checking my music out and I really hope you enjoy it all. Obviously I will never make the same type of music as my great influences but thanks to them I can make music.
Sounds Like
My music sounds like my own.
I guess it has this film music kind of taste. Many says that it is relaxing, others say it is ambient and people have even said it is haunting.
While I am definitely into composing music for movies, I want to continue getting this music out on radio and heard by everyone. Pop, soul, rap, rock, funk, techno, electro and country (etc., etc.) isn't the ONLY music that you should hear from the radio. I consider film type of music and just instrumental (not only classic) should be on the radio too. I don't know why it hasn't been, but if you really look at it, that is probably the MOST listened to music in the world today. I don't think there is a single soul that HASN'T watched a movie today. Well, there you go. Therefore the music should be featured out there on radio too! That is what I want to accomplish here as well.
Why "G"? What does it stand for? God? Genius? Gollum? Probably should. No, sorry friends. I am afraid that I wasn't that smart. G is actually the first letter of my first name.
I like to see myself as a normal person who happened to like music since early age and took it upon myself to start learning how to compose it myself.
At the age of 7 I was given my first little electronic synthesizer. I started immediately playing the tunes I would hear. I tried piano lessons but it didn’t do me any good because I didn’t feel I learned anything useful.
I decided at that time that I would not doing anything else than just performing the music I had in my head. My favorite thing at first was to listen to music from movies and then copy them to my piano playing. I would sit and train myself to hear all the instruments in the song and play them individually.
While I have a vast array of interests and hobbies such as sports, acting, drawing, painting, dancing, writing and filmmaking, my strongest point was always my music.
You will also find a lot of mention of Bia and that person is my fantastic photographer AND girlfriend. She is a great support and FANTASTIC artist. As I mentioned in my "Band Members" section, we are working on projects together and her terrific poetry. You definitely should check out her homepage: Poetry for Life
We are just chilling out to your music after the music seminar... Nice, relaxing, thanks! (And my hubby is saying: "Yeah! Here he is using this scale! And here he is using this scale!" :-D)
Ah yes I remember that holiday. I knew it was too early for midsommar. How has the winter been this time? I was there for two summers and one winter - it was only a mild winter and apparently one summer was the best you'd had in forty years (or was it 140 years! can't remember now). Anyway I was there from Mar 2001 until Sep 2002, living in Stockholm. I really liked Stockholm, especially gamla stan of course, and visited a lot of other places in Sweden also. Plus trips to Norway, Denmark and the ferry to Helsinki! It's always fun to live somewhere else for a while, but as they say here, "I still call Australia home"!!!
Hi G! I am so glad to hear from you! :) Thank you so much for writing back.
I am continually amazed at your music. It 'strikes a chord' with me and it is not only beautiful, powerful, but mysterious as well.
And hearing that you like storms and thunder is so neat! :) That must be where the mysterious comes in! :D I love to go outside when a storm is arriving and just watch and listen (and take pictures, too). Ahhhhh....lovely......
I appreciate you asking about my acting. :D I am currently a stage manager for a local show called 'The Forgeigner'. It is a thought provoking and a funny production! :) I am looking to audition for 'Don't Drink the Water' soon...it looks funny, as well. :)
Well, please let me know more about what you are up to! :)
