Fox Films Kills Horses
Blurbs
About me:
WE WON! Our Boycott Flicka campaign has been a huge success. We cost Fox Films $12 Million Dollars! Here's the story:
My name is Roland Windsor Vincent. I'm an attorney, rancher and environmentalist. I own and love horses. I was an extra on the set of the Fox Films' shoot of Flicka, and witnessed the cruel use of horses in what is known as a "Wild Horse Race." Wranglers chase frightened horses around a ring, and try to drag them down and mount them. The horses are terrified, and in the case I witnessed one was tripped on its rope, kicked in the head, and died an agonizing death. There was absolutely no justification for subjecting horses to this inhumane treatment, except to shoot a sensational scene to make money for Fox.
This was the second horse to die at the hands of Fox in the re-make of My Friend Flicka.
When I broke the story, Fox offered me $2500 to keep quiet! Just as disturbing was the fact that the film's star, Tim McGraw, hasn't had the guts to even comment on the death of that poor horse. I had been a big fan of Tim McGraw, and I'm sure many of us now are terribly disappointed in him. Shame on you, Tim!
The American Humane Association, which supposedly protects animals in the film industry, signed off on Fox's dangerous and irresponsible wild horse race scene. When the LA Daily News was set to report that a horse had previously been killed on a Flicka set, AHA sent out a midnight press release to beat the story to the wire services, except that their press release absolved Fox of any responsibility! They have gone out of their way to try to convince the public that animal endangerment and cruelty by Fox was just an "accident." It was an accident the same way a demolition derby is an accident! And they supported Fox's bizarre explanation that the horse "reared" and then fell! Horses can't rear when they are running!
When I confronted AHA representatives to demand to know why they permitted the wild horse race in which the horse was brutally killed, they replied that it wasn't abuse if it wasn't illegal! American Humane's latest story is that the horses were not supposed to have broken free in the first place! But Fox had boom cameras all around the ring to film the horses running loose and terrified!
This boycott is about more than 2 horses killed by Fox Films. It will send a message to the industry that movie goers will not tolerate cruelty and exploitation of animals in the making of films. And it will make the American Humane Association re-evaluate its role as pimp for the studios!
**Do not confuse the American Humane Association (AHA) with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).
Who I'd like to meet:
Other horse people and animal lovers who will join us in demanding that the Screen Actors Guild fire American Humane. Flicka's run in U.S. theatres has ended, and our Boycott Flicka campaign has been the most successful grassroots boycott of a major studio production in the history of the film industry! We cost Fox over $12 Million in domestic box office receipts! We are now urging the Screen Actors Guild to replace American Humane with an animal protection organization that will actually protect animals in film.Details

Fox Films killed 2 horses in the re-make of the 1943 classic movie My Friend Flicka. The only way to make sure this never happens again is to make it unprofitable for Fox to abuse animals.
What you can do:
° Please ask your Friends to Add my page. Tell your family, friends and neighbors. Spread the word at church, school, work and the local tavern!
° Add the address to this page in your e-mails, blog and signature etc. Please use: myspace.com/mydeadflicka
° Tim McGraw, the star of Flicka is a coward for not criticizing Fox's abuse of horses. His music featured in the film, giving him money and exposure, and yet he never said a word about the loss of life while filming. You can choose not to buy his music.
° Join us in calling on the Screen Actors Guild to end their involvement with, and funding of, American Humane! Call the Screen Actors Guild at (323) 954-1600. Demand that they replace American Humane with an animal protection organization which will work in the animals' interests! Be sure to tell them how much you appreciate SAG's interest in protecting animals. And tell them American Humane is letting them down!Heroes

Poem cum song 5 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (see my Blog for details):
STATE TO STATE
(TUNE:

C F G F
C F G F
F G F C
F G F C
F G F C
C F F F)
From Sydney Town,
In uni. break,
I drove out west
To earnings make
Onion picking,
On the fields
Of Echuca,
That year’s yields.
After day’s work,
From Y.H.A.,
A group of us
Would not delay
To walk on down
To the dirt rim
Of the Murray,
For a cool swim.
On one such day,
I do declare,
Some three of us
Had a big dare
To swim across,
From state to state,
The wide Murray -
I took the bait.
Yes, foolishly,
I took the bait -
A choice that I
Would come to hate,
For I almost
Did drown that date,
Making the swim
From state to state.
