Nadja is a duo of Aidan Baker (guitars/vocals/piano/woodwinds/drums) &
Leah Buckareff (bass/vocals). Nadja originally began in 2003 as a solo project for Baker to explore the heavier/noisier side of his experimental/ambient guitar-based music.
In 2005 Buckareff joined in order to make the project more than just a studio endeavour & allow Nadja to perform live.
Nadja creates music that has been described as drone, ambient-doom, and shoegazer-metal. The duo combines soundscapes, electronics, & atmospheric vocals with snail-crawl, epic riffs & dirge-like percussion, tempering the cacophany with a certain ethereal melodicism such that the listener is enveloped in a sublimating wall of amorphous sound.

Sneaky Dee's was witness to a tranquil sea of sonic mass destruction. That was a majestic set at Wavelength. A crashing eruption of swirly white-noise infusing shoegazers My Bloody Valentine, industrial-metal of Laibach, and Japanese noise-rockers Boredoms. An ethereal beauty that's both hypotic and violent, but as with all decibel raising walls-of-sound--that impending danger, that sheer thrill--is what gets the endorphins flowing.
Hi guys! I just had a spin of My copy of Desire Is Uneasiness - I think it's Great You decided on adding some live drums, it gives Your music a more hmmm organic feeling... I remember hearing Godflesh's Songs of Love and Hate - it made Me feel the same way about the music - much more organic. Keep Up the Great Work!!!:) Cheers from Poland!!!
