“All of a sudden the 2nd District of Kansas goes from having obscure representation to being up front in the national news on a regular basis. The impact of Congresswoman Boyda is impressive to the point of being staggering.” – Parsons Sun
Nancy Boyda is the voice of the Kansas Second District in the U.S. Congress.
Nancy graduated with honors from William Jewell College, where she earned dual degrees in chemistry and education. She began her career in 1978 working as an analytical chemist and field inspector for the Environmental Protection Agency. Over the next two decades, she held management positions in several pharmaceutical companies, including Marion Laboratories.
Bold Ideas
“Boyda's first 100 days in the House have been remarkable... She authored a bill requiring forfeiture of pensions upon conviction for bribery, conspiracy and perjury. It passed the House unanimously.” – Topeka Capital-Journal
From the moment she was sworn into Congress in early 2007, Nancy has earned a reputation as a bold, common-sense leader. In her first months in office, she led the drumbeat for sweeping ethics reform laws to restore honesty and integrity to Washington. She quickly gained recognition for reaching across party lines to solve tough problems, leading to her election as Republican Liaison for the freshman Democratic class.
Accessible Leadership
“One local newspaper reporter with more than two decades of experience... said he couldn’t remember a federal lawmaker ever journeying to Troy for an event like the one Boyda held on Thursday.” – The Hill
Nancy comes home to Kansas nearly every weekend while Congress is in session. In her first year in office, she has brought Congress on Your Corner to over two dozen towns, where she has met hundreds of Kansans one-on-one to hear their ideas and concerns.
Kansas Common Sense
“...Rep. Nancy Boyda has proved [that] she is not a politician, she is a real person making decisions she thinks Kansans want.” – Pittsburg Morning Sun
In Congress, Nancy has focused on the issues Kansans care about most. Her Safe American Roads Act reined in a Mexican trucking program that threatened the safety of Kansas highways. Her Pensions Forfeiture Act helped stop Congressional corruption by harshly punishing crooked lawmakers. And her Save Our Community Pharmacies Act aimed to end the erosion of health care access across rural Kansas.
