“All of a sudden the 2nd District of Kansas goes from having obscure representation to being up front in the national news on a regular basis. The impact of Congresswoman Boyda is impressive to the point of being staggering.” – Parsons Sun
Nancy Boyda is the voice of the Kansas Second District in the U.S. Congress.
Nancy graduated with honors from William Jewell College, where she earned dual degrees in chemistry and education. She began her career in 1978 working as an analytical chemist and field inspector for the Environmental Protection Agency. Over the next two decades, she held management positions in several pharmaceutical companies, including Marion Laboratories.
Bold Ideas
“Boyda's first 100 days in the House have been remarkable... She authored a bill requiring forfeiture of pensions upon conviction for bribery, conspiracy and perjury. It passed the House unanimously.” – Topeka Capital-Journal
From the moment she was sworn into Congress in early 2007, Nancy has earned a reputation as a bold, common-sense leader. In her first months in office, she led the drumbeat for sweeping ethics reform laws to restore honesty and integrity to Washington. She quickly gained recognition for reaching across party lines to solve tough problems, leading to her election as Republican Liaison for the freshman Democratic class.
Accessible Leadership
“One local newspaper reporter with more than two decades of experience... said he couldn’t remember a federal lawmaker ever journeying to Troy for an event like the one Boyda held on Thursday.” – The Hill
Nancy comes home to Kansas nearly every weekend while Congress is in session. In her first year in office, she has brought Congress on Your Corner to over two dozen towns, where she has met hundreds of Kansans one-on-one to hear their ideas and concerns.
Kansas Common Sense
“...Rep. Nancy Boyda has proved [that] she is not a politician, she is a real person making decisions she thinks Kansans want.” – Pittsburg Morning Sun
In Congress, Nancy has focused on the issues Kansans care about most. Her Safe American Roads Act reined in a Mexican trucking program that threatened the safety of Kansas highways. Her Pensions Forfeiture Act helped stop Congressional corruption by harshly punishing crooked lawmakers. And her Save Our Community Pharmacies Act aimed to end the erosion of health care access across rural Kansas.
What's next Nancy, I'll support you every step of the way. I sat with a veteran on election night at Kite's in Aggieville and all he talked about was how you helped obtain the services due to him, because when he existed the Army he was so feed up, he did not do what was necessary. As he worked through his PTSD, he said it was you who helped and he is forever grateful. You may not have won this fight, but the battle is not over.
I want to thank you, Nancy, for your service to the district. Your Congress on Your Corner was a great idea. I was so sad when I read the election returns. You always got my vote. Thanks again and good luck to you and your family!
Ms. Boyda, although you are not my congresswoman (Dennis Moore is...) I appreciate how hard you worked and what a great campaign you put together. You have served our fine state well. Thanks a lot!
Thank you for all your hard work, Nancy. I want to congratulate you on a fantastic campaign! Wish it had gone the other way. Kansas would have been much better off.
What a shock, I am so sorry. I voted for you and promoted you and supported you and will in the future if you decide to return to battle Jenkins in the future. Please accept my thanks for a job well done on behalf of us. Love and prayers for you and your future....
Thank you so much for your service! You have represented us well, and I hope that we will see you in the next election! You were a phenomenal voice for us, and I hope you know how much you were appreciated!
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. This might conclude one chapter in your political career, but don't give up because Kansas, and the country need you.
hey i just wanted to let you kno i support you, despite the nasty attacks and ads i've seen. i just got back from votin and my entire family voted for you. thats six votes. even if it small compared to the whole it all adds up to make the whole. We plan to keep you in office. keep up the good work!!!!
Regardless of the outcome of this election, I would like to thank you for what I consider to be an excellent term of service. I appreciate your hard work for Kansas, and as a young voter I am proud to say I have voted for Nancy Boyda twice.
Nancy, I would like to see a government incentive for the average citizen that installs an alternative energy system into their home. Right now I have only found that you qualify for a USDA grant if you are a business or a farmer. I think that a lot more Kansans would like to make a Green Statement but cant afford it. I would also appreciate your support for netmetering laws. Thanks Nancy and you have my vote in Nov. :)
