Well life's pretty awesome man. It's chill up here in humboldt. And I got some things to look forward to this summer, including burning man. :)maybe you might be interested in the burn this year?
But damn how time slips away! I've got my own family now, seems like it happens over night. What are you up to?
i want to here about your tatoo too... i hope its getting better (you going to the doc soon?)
also let me know how practice is going!
everything is going pretty well with me. i just have a really bad cold but it should get better soon. im going to start job hunting this next week. wish me luck!
Hey mister. Since you'll be in Austin in Jan. can you make it to Denton, TX Jan 28th maybe the 29th? We're taking Tartuffe there. Me, Barb, Jackie, David, Michael, etc. It'd be a drive for you but worth it?
I've been invited back to KVMR for another two hour radio show, this Sunday Night, Nov 23, from 6-8pm. The show is about Healing through the Arts, and the music of Donovan.
In the Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Grass Valley, Reno area it is 89.5 on the FM dial. All can also listen on the web @ http://kvmr. org/webcast. html
The first hour of the program will discuss healing thru the arts in general, including a discussion of the origins of Great Songs of the Sky and a few tunes from our 2005 live in concert CD, as well as songs performed by Donovan.
The second hour I'm trying something different, sort of. At 7:00pmish, I will play an approximately 25 minute set of Donovan music - songs I have selected in what I am dubbing a "healing meditation" - in a sort of naive, 60s kind of way. I've put together some songs that first allow for stillness, and then journey thru a gamut of emotions, ending of course with hope.
I sort of feel obliged to experiment with this. Everyone I know is so stressed out - be it the economy, loss of jobs or home, anger about election results, worry, fear... and I want to give folks an opportunity to sit quietly for a 1/2 hour while listening to music, and allow themselves to feel what they will.
This is an exercise that is well beyond my personal comfort zone to put forth - being generally much more comfortable with sarcasm and dark humor, haha - but if nothing else listeners will enjoy the music. It occurred to me that since Great Songs of the Sky is about healing thru the arts, that in addition to talking about it, I should try to actually DO it.
I will close the show with songs of hope, joy and levity.
