Movies
AKIRA, David Lynch films, Coen Bros. films, Tim Burton films, Hayao Miyazaki films, Kurosawa films, anime, animation, Chinatown, Bladerunner, Terry Gilliam films, documentaries, Michael Moore films...others. Dunno. I like a good flick. Incredibles was good. I like sci-fi and superhero stuff...but a lot of it sucks. Ehhhh...whatcha gonna do?
Television
ADULT SWIM, CELEBREALITY, FOOD NETWORK, LOST, HEROES, LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, BRITISH TV SHOWS, ANIME or ANIMATION, MYTHBUSTERS, DIRTY JOBS, MIAMI INK, SUPERNANNY
Books
I avoid the classics. I like speculative fiction, non-fiction about stuff I'm interested in, and biographies on occasion. Primarily, though, I read comic books or books about comics.
Heroes
My mother, my father, my little sister. People who do the right thing...I dunno. Idolization of other people, though, is kind of lame. Believe in yourself. Sure, it's good to have role models...but they are just people like yourself. You can be just as "awesome" as you think they are. For real. Believe in yourself, people!

About me: Astrokitty Comics & More is located on the corner of 7th and New Hampshire, directly above the Java Break, in the historical Palladian bldg., right off of the main thoroughfare, Massachusetts St., in Lawrence, KS. If you know where Game Guy, the Raven Bookstore, or (blech!) Borders are...then you should be able to find/see us. We've got a red, lighted sign and painted windows. We are a full-service comic book, MAGIC:TG/HEROCLIX/VS./Pokemon/YuGiOh!/WoWccg/MUNCHKIN/ZOMBIES!/Beermoney, action figure, minicomix, poster, and t-shirt retail space! We're trying to break the stereotype so often found living and breathing in other comic book and gaming stores. Ours is not a dark, dingy, unwelcoming store! We are not poorly-organized! We don't limit our selection of awesome items! We offer a unique shopping experience in a bright, cool, organized, non-intimidating space that is stocked with the newest comic-related toys, graphic novels, tpbs, supplies, and a wide array of collectible gaming items as well. Our knowledgable, friendly staff is always more than happy to steer you towards the book or items you're looking for. In the way of gaming, we offer Magic: The Gathering, and Heroclix as our primary focus, but sell non-collectible games such as Zombies, Munchkin, and Beermoney as well. We are always happy to do special orders for items we don't currently have in the store and, if you sign up for a subscription (also known as a pull & hold)...where we have a list of the monthly, bi-monthly, and quarterly titles you want held for you before they hit the shelves (and whenever they come out), then you're eligible for a discount right off the bat! So, come on in and say "HI" and check out the store...we're trying to do things the right way and only your patronage will let us know if we're succeeding!
Our friendly staff of part-timers and occasional employees, assisted by the man behind the kitty, Joel Pfannenstiel, consists of Joe Noh, Brendan Hubbs, Rachel Monger, Erin Kidwell, and formerly Jimmy Appelhanz! Come up and be a part of the Astrokitty experience!!!
If you're coming into Lawrence from out of town and want to get a taste of what this town has to offer by way of original, locally-owned/operated, unique businesses...then check us out! Come by and get a coffee at the Java Break and then come upstairs and get some comics...or vice versa! Make Astrokitty one of your stops along the way to other great downtown businesses, like LOVEGARDEN, HOBBS, LIBERTY HALL, BRITS, AU MARCHE, WILD TERRITORY, WILDMAN VINTAGE, THE REPLAY LOUNGE, THE JACKPOT SALOON, HENRY'S, THE BOURGEOIS PIG, THE CHEESE SHOPPE, THE DUSTY BOOKSHELF, RUDY'S PIZZERIA, ZEN ZERO, LA PARILLA, LA FAMILIA, THE BOTTLENECK, THE MAD GREEK, LA PRIMA TAZZA, SYLAS & MADDY'S ICE CREAM, THE RAVEN BOOKSTORE, INDIA PALACE, LOCAL BURGER, FREE-STATE BREWERY, THIRD PLANET, GAME GUY, GAME NUT, THE TOY STORE and so many more! SUPPORT LOCAL! BUY LOCAL/REGIONAL PRODUCTS before you frequent national/corporate chains! Keep downtown Lawrence diverse and unique by doing this! Stop us from becoming a homogenized strip-mall taken over by a series of franchised businesses that care only about the bottom line and don't see that our downtown diversity is what makes us a tourist destination!
If you're a local, then come by and pick up some items...or stop by to say "hi"! If we don't have something YOU dig, I'm sure we have something you could give as a present for your friends/family come gift-giving time! Or, just come up to experience a shop that's fighting the stigma! If you're a Magic or Heroclix player, stop by for one of our in-store events!
Check out our website at http://www.astrokittycomics.com for a list of events and what new product we get in weekly!
Who I'd like to meet: Local and not-so-local comic book fans, comic book creators, toy collectors, gamers, and just people who are looking for a unique, customer-support-driven retail experience. Also...celebrities!
And...well, if you want to meet US...come by the shop! We're open 7 Days a week! Tuesday to Saturday, 11am-7pm and Sunday/Monday 12pm-5pm!
If anyone can tell me where I can find the 12" Captain America (with mask) from the Marvel Legends Icons series I would be appreciative. And if you are selling I am buying!!!
