Influences
My influences are vast and not just musical.
At this point, I feel they are embedded in me
but not impacting me the way they did in the beginning.
Al Green, BB King, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, John Coltrane,
keith Jarrett, Pat Metheny, John Martyn, John Lennon,
Cat Stevens, Thelonious Monk, George Benson, Sam Cooke,
Ray Charles, Richie Havens, Picasso, Pollock, De Kooning,
Lawrence Ferlinghetti, William Barron and countless others.
Nicholas Barron is a one of a kind singer-songwriter who makes his home in Chicago. Nicholas is also a Painter with a current show at The Starbucks at 2023 west Roscoe and Seeley just west of Damen until July 15. He paints on Old windows and Canvas. He is on Candyrat records and has 3 CD's out on the label as well as a retrospective CD with his very popular 1990's band SWIMMER. In 2007, he was introduced by James Taylor as the launch artist for The New York Times Emerging Artists series in NYC, who called him "undeniable"! In recent years Nicholas has opened for Al Green, BB King, Joan Armatrading, The Meters, Maceo parker, The Doobie Brothers, War, and many others. Nicholas combines his unique vocal style that is akin to Otis Redding and Tom waits with poetic lyrics. He is currently working on a record with Legendary Chicago producer Jim Tulio. Tulio has also asked Nicholas to be on the upcoming John Martyn tribute record that will include legends such as Clapton, Joni Mitchell and many others.
John Martyn, who died 2 months ago, was Nicholas' biggest all around influence.Look for a new CD sometime this year.

Thanks for the friendship.. Hope you enjoy the music and message behind it. My mission in life is to fight Human Trafficking. understanding the individual pain of others is sometimes to painful for an other individual to touch and that is frightening ...what i mean is that someone whose life is not traumatized and brutalized as a regular sequence of every day events unconsciously seeks the camouflage and shelter of apathy and banality from the reality of such devastating anguish and terror ...but the spirit of young people who are used as sex slaves in the systematized global industry of human trafficking is now reaching out to the human fellowship in hope and desperation and through technology ...it is scary when humanity turns a blind eye to this horror ...its like ignoring genocide whilst it is happening ...what i am asking is that if you hear the cry of these young people who are existing in an environment of torture and brutality each and every day that you then please do not turn away from them ...please reach deeply into your heart and soul and please in 2009 join a movement or become a part of an event that challenges modern slavery in the 21st century ...
