I do shows. It is the only thing I do, and I never stop doing it for more than a few hours.
Yes, I do want to help you put on your crazy-ass show in Portland.
Right now I'm principally producing and performing in a panoply of shows under the banner of Wanderlust, with my partner Nick the Creature.
Closest to my heart amongst these projects is
Wanderlust Circus, a troupe comprising the finest circus and variety performers in town. Though the troupe comprises a large family of rotating performers, our core group comes down to: Kazum, Leapin' Louie Lichtenstein, The AWOL Dance Collective, Cherry, Brittany Walsh, Sadie LaGuerre, Russell Bruner, Vaughn Murray, William DeRichter, and Andi Lou. Other frequent performers include Reed McClintock, Shoehorn, Charlie Brown, Rhys Thomas, Curtis Carlyle, Jay Lieber, Tana the Tattooed Lady, The Bellini Twins, Tommy Twimble, Revolva, Jacqueline C, Keph Sherin, Nanda, and The Mighty Mighty Acrobats.
2009 has seen the development of Wanderlust's new headquarters at the gorgeously-restored Bossanova Ballroom; where we have presented four major productions to large and enthusiastic crowds: The White Album Christmas, with musical director John Averill; the Valentine's day dinner show Cirque L'Amour with The Stolen Sweets; The Wonderland Circus, based on the works of Lewis Carroll and featuring a live score by Trashcan Joe; and the semi-autobiographical Endless Road Trilogy. We are available for private bookings.
Looming on the Wanderlust radar: Engagements at The Bite of Oregon, The Eros Festival, Scream At The Beach, and numerous others.
Creature and I are also producing a weekly bizarre cabaret revue called Sideshow Speakeasy, every Wednesday at Dante's. A strange mix of top-notch skill acts, aspiring B-teamers, and the sort of truly horrifying acts that should probably be left alone.
NagaSita, who is totally my girlfriend, has produced and directed the first two installments of the dark fairytale pageant BOGVILLE starring Jay Lieber, Meghann Nicholls, Uxepi Ipexu, Irish Collins, myself, Soriah, Eric Stern, and numerous other players from the underground. This is the most exciting creative work that I'm doing right now - an aesthetic and a methodology that are unique in my experience.
For 10 years, I've performed as part of Nequaquam Vacuum. That is a revolving free post-world music ensemble, of which I have been the only consistent member. We combine scrap metal and found objects with classical instruments from around the world toward long-form improvisations. The most present line-up consists of myself, Travis McAlister, J Lieber, Rale Sidebottom, Uxepi Ipexu, and Gordon Romei. Former members have included Tyler Armstrong, James Davis, Brian Crowl, Nolan Ashley, and various others. We're about to release an album on URCK Records called Fallout Over Peking that's pretty amazing.
Without intending to do so, I've stumbled into a side-career as a professional announcer and jack-of-all-ceremonies; scene irregularly at The Bite of Oregon, The Rose Festival, Dante's Sinferno Cabaret, The Vampire's Masquerade Ball, The Glam-O-Rama Girly Show, The Drunk Puppet Show, Convergence 13, The Hive Anniversary Parties, and numerous events at all levels of respectability.
Later this year, I'll begin work on an opera. This is written, composed, and conceived by Eric Stern of Vagabond Opera; and is to be directed by myself. Words cannot express how into that I am.
