Usually solo, Noah Zacharin, on the guitar and voice and songwriting. Also piano, banjo, mandolin, electric, baritone, 12-string guitars when mood and/or multi-track opportunities strike.
Sometimes work as a duo with Chris Gartner on bass, and other times as a trio with Chris and Marc Pizer on drums. Recent CD release at Hugh's Room (were you there???) had Chris on sexy bass, Rob Greenway on coolo drums and Denis Keldie on you-can't-beat-that-shit organ and keys.
Used to play happily with Beefknuckle, a quartet with two guitars (NZ and Dave Martin), one harmonica (Marty Stelnick), and one bass (Jamie Roddy), but now that DM has moved out West it's hard to say when I'll be grinning with them cats again... We do have a myspace, however, where you can download live cuts and find out when and where we'll be next. (myspace.com/beefknuckle.)
Recently I have been spotted in the company of the Guitar Boys of Alderon (zach, Brian Gladstone, and Mr. Rick). Our myspace seems to have disappeared, but we have not. Keep your eyes open. Also been playing with Randy Finney and David Barrett--guitar and NO voice. A couple of private functions coming up--I'll post next time you can come hear us.
On the new record--coming soon to a CD player near you--you got your Mark Mariash on drums; Maury Lafoy on bass; Waits alum Ralph Carney, David Travers-Smith, Sarah McElcheran, Ernie Tollar, and N. Jay Burr on horns; Dennis Keldie on organ; John Showman on fiddle; etc, & c, et al.
Noah Zacharin looks forward to playin' for you, in whatever format is going at the time, very soon.
Mississippi John Hurt, Patrick Sky, Bromberg, Van Ronk, Dylan, Mahavishnu John McLaughlin, early Coryell, Bert Jansch, Big Bill Broonzy, seeing John Lee Hooker when I was in high school, drop D tuning that I learned at age 12 from my camp counsellor, hunger, desire, the big blue sky, the deep blue sea, Sonny Greenwich, Montreal smoked meat sandwiches, three A.M. last call on the Main, on and on, what hasn't influenced us?...
Noah's Puppet show. (video 1:45) You just can't plan this s***. -A young man spontaneously joins Noah & translate/signs so his friend could watch both. Beautiful! You'll have to click on my video pg to watch-I'm really not that myspace-savvy.
Miss you Noah and Miss Laura too:) Hope all is well and that you might head down this way someday soon. I started another network (I know...just what the world needs now...lol) but it is kinda cool I think and there's some really wonderful, talented and very interesting members there. I'd love to have you check it out and add your unique individuality to the syneristic pool. I also have a co-op indie label project, compilation cd with single song, non-exclusive straight cut of the gross deal, that I'd love to have you both be a part of. Jonathan Long, Don Gaylord, Randall Moore, Mo Kauffey, Myself and a few more talented singer/songwriters are already on board "Restless Roots". Hope to hear from you soon.
Noah Z... you guys enriched my life this weekend, musically and in my "sole" (hee hee). The El didn't bother you because we never slept. Maybe Tom Morrow isn't Hope's only son... because I think YOU da man! ;-) xoxo, Sue
Hi Noah - Jeanne in Chicago, friend of Sue's. I look forward to seeing you at Bill's Blues (hope to get some other musician friends there, too). Not sure about FF yet, but if I'm not seeing another show, I"ll be there to share in the song circle w/you & Laura. Safe trip! Jeanne
HI Noah, great to hear from you too. LIke your new tracks a lot. I'm always a fan of your writing and playing, esp. your great leads. Never wasting a note, you make the axe sing eloquently, trenchantly, passionately. Yeah!
