Noir Magnetik, along with Power Through Will, is a solo project from Aries of As All Die. It is meant to be an homage to the underground industrial cassette culture of the 80's. Whereas PTW is more "song" oriented, Noir Magnetik is less structured and encompasses noise and experimental elements to create cinematic ritual soundscapes.
Aries has been making electronic-based music for 15 years, including writing and production for other artists. Beginning in 2000, he recorded two limited CD-Rs under the project name Burn Unit. In March 2004, he was recruited by Clint Listing to join As All Die, whose sound combines martial industrial, dark ambient, neofolk and occasionally noise. After a string of critically acclaimed releases and live shows, As All Die is currently on hiatus.
In 2005, Aries collaborated with Rhode Island musician Ron Schmitt to create a score for the modern dance company Fusionworks. More art-related projects are currently being planned. Also see www.myspace.com/powerthroughwill
