The story so far.... - BIOGRAPHY!
1993
NOMINON was formed in January 1993 by Juha Sulasalmi and Peter Nilsson. As a duo they released two demos: "Daemon I" and "II" - both in 1993. The music they played back then was a mix of Death Metal and Black Metal, and the demos were spread only in the Swedish underground.
1995
In the fall of 1995 NOMINON became a whole band, line-up:
Vocals - N. Holstenson, Guitar - J. Mattsson, Guitar - C. Cederborg, Bass - T. Hellman, Drums - J. Sulasalmi.
1996
NOMINON played their debut gig in February 1996 with DISMEMBER, DISSECTION and VERMIN. The same year they released a demo called "My Flesh". Cederborg got fired and Sulasalmi took over the guitar duties and they got Emil Dragutinovic as their new drummer. The band also released another demo called "Demo II '96" at the end of the year.
1997
In 1997 they played a few gigs and in August they recorded a promo tape, simply called "Promo '97". After the recording they kicked out Tobbe and David Svartz replaced him.
1998
Two months before the recording of their first album Lenny Blade, from the Thrash Metal act INCINERATOR (which also includes Jonas Mattsson on guitar), replaced David who was sacked out from the band. October 1998 NOMINON entered Studio Sunlight to record their debut album "Diabolical Bloodshed". After the recording NOMINON did a couple of gigs in Germany and Sweden.
1999
The debut CD " Diabolical Bloodshed" was released on X-TREME RECORDS, November 15th.
2000
NOMINON played some festivals and started negotiations about a suitabel deal with a major death/grind label.
2001
In September the 20:th E. Dragutinovic and NOMINON parted ways. He was replaced a month later by Perra Karlsson, an old world drummer and a friend in the Swedish metal scene. The band quickly went into the studio and recorded a 4 track promo in December, that remained unreleased for the next couple of years.
2002
In the summer, NOMINON became a fourpiece as longtime vocalist; Nicke Holstensson was released from his duties due to lack of interest. Late in the year three tracks was recorded by the band themself for a 7" EP.
2003
The 3-track Cassette EP "Blaspheming The Dead" was released on NUCLEAR WINTER RDS as the 7" EP is delayed due to a incompetent printing factory in Italy. Five tracks is recorded during the summer for a MCD/MLP 12"-release.
2004
The MCD and MLP "The True Face Of Death" are released via NUCLEAR WINTER RDS (MCD) and TPL RDS (Gatefold 12"). In April NOMINON supported MASTER on four dates in Sweden. A CD with old NOMINON demos is released by NORTHERN SILENCE PROD. (Ger). In May the band is reduced to half the force when Lenny Blade and Jonas Mattsson decided to leave. A month later bassist Joel Andersson joined NOMINON and Juha took over the vocal duties for a while, but not for too long as Daniel Garptoft completed the line-up in early August. During September/October NOMINON did their first ever european tour together with the legendary U.K. death pioneers BENEDICTION as well as landmates GODHATE. NOMINON also signed a one album deal with Singapore label KONQUEROR RECORDS.
2005
Starting the year with working on the second album as well as audtioning a second guitarplayer for a more brutal livesound. That guitarplayer was found the first week of January in AntiChristian Strömblad. In late January the guys recorded their second full-lenght album "Recremation" at Necromorbus Studio with engineer/producer Tore Stjerna. During March the superdelayed 7" EP "Blaspheming The Dead" was finally released by Greek label NUCLEAR WINTER RDS. The album "Recremation" was released on CD by KONQUEROR RDS in late April and in May on 12" LP by BLOOD HARVEST RDS. In May NOMINON also played at the cult festival Fuck The Commerce in Luckau, Germany. After the summer NOMINON played their first mini-tour of Finland as well as went out on an European tour with the American legends VITAL REMAINS. This tour was the most successfull route so far for the gruesome fivesome on all levels.
2006
During January and February the band gather just to work on new material. Intense rehearsals take place and songs are written and arranged by more or less the whole band. NOMINON also present their first promo video during February, in form of the track "Hordes Of Flies". The video was directed by D.Garptoft/Insane Pictures. Special introduction guest on the clip comes from Dave Suzuki (VITAL REMAINS). During the summer the "Recremation" album was released via license in the USA by NECROHARMONIC/DEATHGASM RDS. In late September bassist Joel Andersson decided to leave the band, a couple of weeks later bassist Anders Malmström joined NOMINON. In November the Singapore label PULVERISED RECORDS released the collection CD "Remnants Of A Diabolical History", a collection of previously unreleased demo recordings/covers. NOMINON only played one single show during 2006, that was a special show celebrating "Ten years as a Live act" in the end of December.
2007
In the middle of February NOMINON went inside of Necromorbus Studio to record their third album; "Terra Necrosis" with owner and engineer Tore Stjerna. Ten Metal of Death tracks with some of the most varied NOMINON material to date. The first edition was released as an exclusive Digipack CD version by KONQUEROR RDS in early June, the vinyl issue followed very late June on BLOOD HARVEST RDS. The USA version was released in early July via DEATHGASM RDS/IBEXMOON RDS. In the month of July NOMINON also went out on a European tour with landmates DEMONICAL as support to the might Devil Metal pioneers NUNSLAUGHTER. A tour taking the guys through six countries in the north of Europe. The guys ended the year by playing support to the mighty GRAVE in Stockholm during December.
2008
The fifteenth year of NOMINON existence started with a headlining mini-tour of Denmark, Germany and The Netherlands during early March together with the band REMAINS. At the same time the very first Live 7" EP of NOMINON was released; "Legiões em Portugal". Including two long lost songs recorded at Colinas Bar, Branca in Portugal during the 2005 tour that NOMINON did with VITAL REMAINS. The EP was released via BADGER RDS from The Netherlands. In July NOMINON toured on US soil for the first time with DEATHGASM RDS recording artists and label mates QUINTA ESSENTIA. An amazing trip which contained nine shows in two weeks time, including a stop at the highly acclaimed Central Illinois Metalfest (with co-headliners MASSACRE and SUFFOCATION among others). Assorted shows also included death metal masters INCANTATION. Gig number 100 was nailed with the last show on this US tour!! Later in the year, DEATHGASM RDS re-released the deleted debut album "Diabolical Bloodshed", exactly ten years after it was recorded at the Sunlight Studio. During the months of September and October NOMINON headed out to conquer Europe once again with the good old english wankers BENEDICTION as well as the German thrashers HOLY MOSES. 26 shows in four weeks, the package managed to play in 14 countries. A Hellish ride that will be remembered for sure.
2009
Devote more or less the first six months of 2009 writing the fourth NOMINON studio album. Doing a special gig in Sabbadell/Barcelona, Spain in February together with the Italians HORRID and Spain's very own GRAVEYARD. In July the band also did a festival appearance at a "Private" fest in Uddevalla, Sweden together with GRIEF OF EMERALD and SADISTIC GRIMNESS. During mid September the band pated ways with vocalist Daniel Garptoft, he left the band just before they entered Necromorbus Studio with producer Tore Stjerna to record the fourth NOMINON album as well as a MCD entitled "Omen" that should be seen upon as an appetizer to the album itself, the band used various vocalists through out the recording to fill-in for the departed vocalist. The result turned out killer.
