Since forming in suburban Brantford Ontario, Nowhere Road broke into the indie country scene in 2008 with their debut album, Copperline Hills. This album, fuses Danny Thompson's unwieldy lyrics with experimental production to create a bevy of chart-topping crowd pleasers. With standout tracks like "Nowhere Road, Harley Day, and Copperline Hills" dominating radio airwaves far and wide, Nowhere Road is an essential addition to any music lover's library.

Dan Thompson – Lead singer, Lead guitar, keyboards, banjo
Danny Thompson, a native Ontarian who grew up near Port Dover, is typical of the new breed of country singers who are rooted in traditional country but tuned into a contemporary sound. That sound uniquely belongs to Danny. In addition to performing the original music Thompson writes 98% of the songs he records.
Thompson’s first break was in the mid 80s when his first record deal was signed with
Bel-Air Records (President Bob Cousins). The first single released was called Small Town Blues. This release achieved more then what Thompson or his manager (Bill Oja, CMN Columnist) expected with a large number of Canadian, Europe, and Australian radio stations playing the single. The BBC in Europe picked up the single and it remained on the play list for over 10 weeks. Danny went on to signing his second record deal with Shotgun Records (President Len Wild) and released his first Album titled Rock-in myself to sleep.
From outdoor concerts to jam packed cowboy bars, Danny effortlessly bridges the gap between classic 80s rock and today’s county music. His outlaw music writing styles have not changed in the last 20 years with songs like Small town blues written at the age of 15 to Copper line Hills his newest penned release. His music roots date back to performing traditional country music to today’s alternative crossover country styles resulting in his very unique musical writing style. Today he shares the stage with three other musicians to form the band Nowhere Road. Together they deliver the crunching guitars, driving bass/drums, multiple instruments, and vocals that deliver the lyrics and music written by Danny Thompson
Bernie Hickey – Bass, vocals
Bernie began his musical career learning to play the guitar at the age of 13. He took 3 lessons, quit, and decided to teach himself. By age 18 he switched over to the bass what would become his true calling in his musical career. Music has played a big part in Bernie's life and became his major in college. His ambition was to be a music teacher but decided later on that playing and watching people dance while being entertained is a feeling that couldn't be beat. Beyond being the driving low end force that is behind the bands sound, Bernie’s attention to detail and his ability to play many styles of music make him a valuable member of the Nowhere Road Band.
Rob Johnson – Drums, vocals
Rob started playing drums at the age of 10. Although he taught himself how to play the drums, he did take his music theory classes. During his high school years he began playing in local bands. Rob was exposed to many different styles and genres of music which would shape his drumming style in the years to come. Rob is most noted for his diverse and inspired percussive abilities. As a gifted drummer he brings a complex and multidimensional approach to drumming. From a simple mainline groove to a high speed complicated brush beat, he is in a class by himself. Rob joined up with Gunsmoke in the late 80s and has been a dedicated drummer ever since.
Jamie Thompson - Lead Guitar
Jamie exhibits a range of musicianship that is impressive under any standards. This is Canadian talent at its best.
As a musician, he sparked several genres of pop and rock music, including electrified folk-rock, heavy rock and country-rock. And that just touches on the tip of his abilities.
Jamie has been exposed to the professional music industry since the age of 6. As a teenager he had grown substantially as a performer and was determined to become a professional musician, joining Nowhere Road as the second guitar player in 2008.
Terry Fraser - Lead Guitar, Vocals
His career spans 2 decades and continues to intersect with some of the finest musicians in the country. A household name among musicians around Ontario, he’s garnered hundreds of loyal fans. Known as a “musician’s musician,” he’s been described (more than once, and by some of the biggest names in the industry) as the greatest guitar player in Canada. On stage, Terry’s presence is relaxed and low key, but his playing has a deep fire and intensity. Terry’s style and guitar tone draws inspiration from great players like Eric Clapton, Tom Scholz (Boston) and Brad Paisley. Terry’s slide guitar playing, fat/thick guitar sounds are major elements of the band’s sound and helps set this band apart from other Country bands in North America.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Nowhere Road with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Copperline Hills"
“Copperline Hills” by Nowhere Road is an excellent mix of country/southern rock and should be on any country fans radar. Although they reside in Canada, far from the Deep South, the band has an incredible feel for the country genre and the interplay between band members really shines. The title track “Copperline Hills” is highly reminiscent of Lynyrd Skynyrd both in the percussion work and the tasty slide guitar. “Harley Day” speaks to all those country fans cruising down the highway on their favorite “hog” with the wind to their back and nothing but the road ahead. The musicality on this CD is well worth listening to and should be heard by all fans of music.
