Unnatural Axe produced a "classic Boston punk record in 1978 - They Saved Hitler's Brain. Their live shows were sheer energy. They were young, dumb, and inspired..." from Boston Groupie News
My favorite from Dr. K.: The Cure: 1980 "A Forest" played just two locations on their first US Tour in 1980 before returning to England. NYC @ Hurrah’s and the next night Boston @ The Underground Club. The single “A Forest” had just been released in England and performed live for the first time in the US.
This month KINODV has a live video cut of “A Forest” from the show in Boston.
First time watch for anyone:
Fabulous Billygoons
Years before the Beastie Boys learned to party or rap, a crew of Boston goons hung out at the Broad St. gym -- there were even bowling team jackets, as I recall. Very late nights, and the sun coming up as we ate at the New York deli -- long gone places. The gym was heated by a stove. Lester slept on a five-foot square piece of foam rubber. Made on April 1, 1982, the Billygoon Party Rap was rejected by MTV in 1983 as "Unfit For Programming Practices."
Lowell Blues: the words of Jack Kerouac
An excerpt from "Lowell Blues," a film-poem in Beat poet Jack Kerouac's own words about the place he could not forget.
And from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones -- there's a story behind the song. If you know me well, you might know it...

Any friend of Charley's or Tony M.'s is bound to be good people so I am happy to meet you!
Not knowing your name, and only that you refer to yourself as an old ex-beat I know only that about ya.
With tongue in cheek, I must ask, is there a 12-step program out there that turns a Beat into an ex-Beat? Or is it more so that you served your time and paid your debt to society as a Beat and now, as a free man, someone has pinned the moniker, 'ex-beat' as in, "That's my buddy Tom, he's an ex-beat but a still a helluva guy!"
Either way, I dig it! I like your taste in museums as well! Have a super weekend!
Yes...retired from the Red Umbrella 2/1/09. The 14 months prior to that was one big long Frequent Flyer nightmare. Waaay tooo much work. i was covering 5 states and was traveling to CA 2 and 3 times a month. I lost touch with a bunch of folks in the process which I apologize for. I have over 5000 unopened emails in my Juno account! I finally decided last Novemver that life is too short and I told them I was retiring 2/1/09. I am still getting into the retirement mode...lots of personal stuff going on right now. But I am sure glad to be off the merry-go-round and my Blood Pressure is probably 25 points less!
Thanks for the shout. More later. i am actually at the Silverdale WA library heading out for an overnight at our cabin on Hood Canal south of Seabeck WA. No cell service or internet there and it is a nice day here. A fellow close to us has a webcam on his deck...we have the same basic view but we are right on the water. Check him out at www. drdale. com
Happy Birthday G! Have fun on your holida and tell me....who is that bad ass you have playing on your music file? Ha ha ha, I'm just foolin'. Have a great day and to hell with the candles.
Last year I had a vision to type in 5am on Google after completing a track at that moment in time. I found a poem by Allen Ginsberg called 5am which described how I was feeling right then.
So my purpose over the past year has been to capture that 5am vibe in sound and visuals. My journey has been further inspired by the works of Rumi, Maya Deren and Stan Brakhage
Id like to thank everyone who shined their great yellow vibes across my path while making these sounds..... Keep walking that yellow brick road!!!
