Sounds Like
Cult Black Metal in the style of early 90's Norwegian church-burning black-metal.
In the year 1997, the underground black metal scene was a rotting corpse, full of commercial and capitalist trend metal bands. It was at this time that three British long-time underground fans with apt musical ability decided that the flame of the dying scene had to be rekindled at all costs. Old Forest was born under the stars, in a mutual pact of understanding to preserve the cold and dark melancholy that was the very root of black metal. From the darkest depths of the underground seeped forth Kobold, Beleth and Grond with their debut demo ‘Of Mists and Graves’.
Old Forest's album debut was released through Cult Black Metal label Mordgrimm. The album was universally ignored, and this solidified Old Forest's status as a CULT black metal group. Shortly afterwards, a second album was recorded, titled "None More Black (the second coming)". This was never to see the light of day, and Old Forest shortly afterwards ceased activity in order to follow more esoteric paths.
In 2007, the members of Old Forest decided that they would reform in order to continue their musical crusade of anti commercial Cult Black Metal.
The new material will begin to appear in 2008 ; an EP trilogy exploring the dark myths and legends of the Sussex Weald (a.k.a Andredsweald). The first release of this trilogy is released on March the 23rd, through Death To Music productions, and is titled ;
"Tales of the Sussex Weald - Part 1 (The Legend of the Devil's Dyke)"
This comes in the form of a strictly limited edition Mini CD featuring 5 tracks of raw and etherial Black Metal, accompanied by a 24 page booklet explaining the myth of the Devil's Dyke for the first 100 European orders only (the postage is too expensive worldwide). A total of only 222 limited edition CDs of '...Part 1' are available.
An instant cult classic, not a best-seller...
