After some years in the metal underground it is March 2007 when ‘The New Onheil’ arises: a new band, formed by the fusion between ‘The Old Onheil’ (with 1 Mini CD on a Dutch label) and Martyr (with 2 full-length albums on American labels). This new line-up contains 3 guitarists and 2 lead singers, giving the band more possibilities to expand their own unique blackened metal sound (aka heavy/black metal aka “black metal Iron Maiden” aka modern black metal aka NeoBlack).
The return started with some great live shows, including opening for Norwegian black metal cult band Mayhem and a show with Polish death metal legends Vader. Also at the end of October of that same year, Onheil released a new song, ‘As Hope Dies’, available as a free mp3 download and as a video clip. This video clip got 2000 views on YouTube within the first 3 weeks of it’s release and by the time you read this, it should be approaching the 10.000. Onheil clearly haven’t been forgotten...
In 2008, a promocd "Razor" was recorded. Besides recording their next album later this year, Onheil’s future plans include: playing the highly acclaimed open air festival Stonehenge (with bands like Entombed, Belphegor, Sadist, Burden Of Grief, Dark Age), increasing abuse of ‘new’ media such as MySpace, internetradio/TV, video clips, and working together with a booking agency to arrange as many live gigs and tours as possible starting this autumn/winter.

Thanks for the add. Jullie zijn een van de betere Nederlandse metalbands die ik gehoord heb de laatste tijd. Keep it up! Misschien staan we ooit nog een keer met elkaar op een podium.
Eerste keer dat ik jullie hoorde was jaaaaren geleden omdat een maat van me jullie eerste demo toen aanschafte. En het beviel me toen al prima. Op een of andere manier Onheil sindsdien uit het oog verloren en nu door jullie friend request weer ontdekt. Maar het is weer een prettttige kennismaking.
