The story of OVERUNITMACHINE begins in winter 2000.The band was born from a cross-core project of Joe, the singer of the band. After a few months, the band finally reaches a permanent line-up:KLOWN-singer,LUCA-guitar,PAUL-drums, ALAN-guitar,MENI-bass- PIGGY DELIRIUM-samples..The band worked hard on the development of its own sound and style; the result is an original crossover style, full of different influences, in which the wall-of-sound created by heavy 7 strings alternates with obscure atmospheres and clear melodies.

The band plays only original songs, no covers. Each of the musicians comes from different musical education, and the fusion of these experiences creates an identifiable sound, proper of OVERUNITMACHINE. The OVERUNITMACHINE crew played in many clubs and festivals in Italy, together with renowned bands like TO DIE FOR,SLOWMOTION,APOCALYPSE,SICKHEAD,WOPTIME,N.A.M.B.,CRO-MAGS ,BETRAYED and many more,obtaining great results in many contests...

The MACHINE collaborates also with big artists like NICOLAS VAVASSORI,RICCARDO MODENA,MAURIZIO CEOLIN,GIULIO MASIERI,LORENZO BIANCHINI,and with other musicians like THE COGWHEELZ,LUCA CEOLIN and many more. After a demo tape, the first real album of the band is a selfreleased cd called NURSERY RHYMES(2005), 11 songs for 45 minutes of a powerful/various sound,supported by a great sound technician like Nico Odorico( from ANGEL’S WINGS recording studio,Udine ,Italy),with his avant-garde technology. The result is an aggressive crossover, in which the heavy and powerful impact ,that reminds of Sepultura-Machine Head sound,(“I AM ”-“DEADLY RHYMES ”)melts with obscure interludes (reminiscence of TOOL) or schizophrenic deliriums reminding of HED-pe alternate to melodic openings, and the use of acoustic and electronic instruments makes the groove involving and never boring (“BLINDED ”-“BROKEN ”).

The album was self-produced and self-delivered, it reached 1000 sold copies afteronly 1 month, and the “MACHINE ” receives a lot of regard from everybody(the local music scene,the bands ,the fans),not only for the music but also for the professional quality of the recording (due to the great ability of the “soundman”NICO ODORICO) and for the finely accurate graphic work made for the booklet by ANTONIO DORE from the local graphic studio named “STUDIO-IDEE -MATERIA ”.

The band’s hard work gets rewarded by good re-wievs over webzines and several interviews for local newspapers and radios; the growing interest around the band makes a further big step forward during the summer of 2005,when LORENZO BIANCHINI,an italian film director (whose former works already won important prizes),chooses NURSERY RHYMES as soundtrack for his next movie“FILM SPORCO”,which participated to many independent-movie festivals around Italy.

In the end of 2007 the band signes a contract with the independent label KILLERPOOL RECORDS of Rome, and in february 2008 starts the studio session with VICTOR LOVE(DOPE STARS INC.) at the SUBSOUND STUDIO (rome) to create the new album that will be released worldwide in FEBRUARY/MARCH 2009...The new album is called ANTROPOPHOBIA ,11 SONGS OF AN UNIDENTIFIABLE SOUND PROPER OF THE OVERUNITMACHINE, developed with the precious help of VICTOR LOVE. MASTERING will be done by JOHN GOLDEN at GOLDENMASTERING ,VENTURA(California).

Recensione di Alone Music - Antropophobia

Gli Overunit Machine dopo aver collezionato una buona serie di esperienze live e dopo il loro primo demo autoprodotto vogliono impattare la scena con il loro Antropophobia.

Questo album contiene undici tracce dove più stili convergono insieme per dare quella giusta dose di energia e melodia che riesce a creare un contatto diretto con l’ascoltatore. Ogni componente proviene da un background musicale diverso e le singole influenze si concentrano per dare vita a questo interessante risultato finale. E’ un sound studiato che prende spunto un po’ dalle tendenze core (tanto “in voga” in questo periodo) e un po’ dalle tradizionali sonorità crossover. Ma tutto questo non spiega ancora esattamente la natura di questo album che ha in sé degli arrangiamenti synth e delle sfaccettature noise che lo allontanano da qualsiasi etichettatura possibile.

Ad esempio 111, ending dell’album, è esclusivamente il frutto della composizione e degli arrangiamenti noise di Piggy Delirium. Questo membro degli Overunit Machine non ha solo un ruolo puramente strumentale ma è anche performer live (il che mi incuriosisce molto…).

Ascoltando le varie tracce mi viene da segnalare la coinvolgente 1000 e I Know Who You Are dal sapore Fear Factoriano che non stona assolutamente con il resto dei brani.

Un piccolo accorgimento per Ghosts dove Victor Love (Dope Stars Inc.) ne ha curato gli arrangiamenti e risulta presente in Antropophobia non solo come produttore!

Insomma, un prodotto che non ha nulla da invidiare a qualsiasi gruppo americano sovraestimato e che rende omaggio all’underground metal del nostro Paese.

Concludo riportando una frase che mi ha colpito molto sul booklet di questo album. Condivido a pieno il messaggio di questi ragazzi e voglio aiutarli a diffonderlo:

“In un mondo morente, proiettato verso l’autodistruzione ferito profondamente da guerre ed inquinamento, impregnato di odio, governato dall’avidità, fagocitato dal consumismo, senza regole, senza morale, senza pietà, senza vergogna…in questo mondo avvelenato, c’è ancora chi spera, chi lotta, chi si sacrifica, in nome di un futuro migliore per chi verrà e per chi sopravviverà…sosteniamo con ogni mezzo e ogni forma chi lotta per un futuro migliore!”
