I play steel, guitar, trumpet, and some other things with a number of different bands & individuals in Portland and Austin, as well as touring with other regional & national acts. Some of the artists I have worked with are Richmond Fontaine, Fernando Viciconte, Alejandro Escovedo, Ian Moore, Victoria Williams, and the Sadies. When I'm home I also front my own band the Pu Pu Platters, playing mostly instrumental numbers ranging from Jazz to Country to Hawaiian to. . .whatever, we mix it all up & have fun. We often have guest instrumentalists and vocalists joining us. You can also see me in Austin sometimes playing with the Bearded Clam Diggers (email me if you want one of our CD's. . .)
I also write & arrange music for various ensembles and have provided arrangements on a number of recordings for The Eels, Michael Jodell, Fernando, Little Sue, and others. And I compose for "classical" ensembles - some of these compositions have recently been performed at the Brooklyn Music Society recitals in Portland (email me for details).
Paul Brainard is featured on the new Bazza CD - I Dream Of Beavers. Paul always comes with a wonderful attitude to the studio and plays with a very creative mind. It's been a pleasure working with him -Thank You so much Paul. Bazza
