Paul Colman leaves the NEWSBOYS after three years and 284 shows!
Dear Fans and Friends,
As many of you know, in Nov 2005 I decided to join the NEWSBOYS as their guitarist. It was definitely a change for me as I had been traveling the globe performing my own music exclusively for over a decade. The invitation from my friend Peter Furler to join the band was an unexpected, but true answer to my prayers. I needed a change and a chance to get away from my own voice for a season. Sometimes in life it seems we all need a break, to re-assess our heart, mind and soul. I definitely needed that! I was not sure how it was going to happen and it was to my surprise and elation that I was led into this fabulous rock'n'roll band. When I joined, I did so with my whole heart and as far as I knew, it would be for the rest of the band's career.
After many prayers and counsel from close friends and mentors, I have decided to leave the band to continue to pursue my solo career. I am going to miss performing with and hanging out with the boys, but I am excited about the opportunities that are before me.
I have a ‘best of Paul Colman album' called HISTORY which releases Jan 27th. This album contains some of the best songs I have ever written as well as a few new songs which I recorded last year. I also have two digital EP's releasing in 2009, the first of which drops the same date as HISTORY on Jan 27 th and is entitled, “If I WAS Jesus”. I have many performances lined up throughout America, Canada, Australia and Europe in 2009/10 and these will all be posted regularly in the tour section of my website. I also have a reunion show in April at EASTERFEST in Australia with the paul colman trio (pc3). I also have a fresh batch of Paul Colman original songs being added to weekly and hope to start recording these this year.
Mostly I will be performing on my own i.e. “one voice-one guitar” and sometimes with a backing band. If you would like me to come to your church, coffee house, conference, festival or event please see the 'contact' section of my website.
My three years as a member of the newsboys were three of the best years of my life. I learnt an immeasurable amount about music, ministry and life. I am very happy to say I left with our friendships wonderfully intact. I always was, and always will be, one of the biggest newsboys fans.

Paul, It was definitely worth the trip from El Paso to finally get to meet you in person and talk to you yesterday at MMCC in Scottsdale, AZ, after a year of totally getting into everyone of your and PC3's albums... I'd been working on seeing you LIVE in concert all year, just couldn't afford flying to Sweden, Norway, Maine, Florida or California .... ha,ha. Loved the songs and the thoughts you shared on Jeremiah 17....Thanks also for taking the time to sign my "Turn" Songbook, for the picture and the CD (the only one we didn't have yet...). Danny, my son, told me in the car on the way back home that he forgot to tell you that his favorite song of yours is "Sweet River". So I promised him, that I'd write you a note...
