Rocketed into the trance scene late 2003, Paul Moelands
has become one of the leading upcoming producers that trance land has to
offer nowadays! Both Re:Locate Waterfall and Octagen & Arizona (his project
with Thomas Bronzwaer) Starburst releases were shot into orbit and picked up
by every self respected DJ around!
Paul Moelands, born 83, got into touch with music at a very early age.
Growing up in quite the creative family, things got on a roll when Paul
started playing the piano. Keeping at that for a long time, the piano
teacher - fond of improvisation - woke up the musically creative drive in
Paul. Inspired by the early gabber and hardcore at that time, the goal was
there: creating electronic dance music.
A few years later on, when the dance and trance started rising, Paul got really inspired. Experimenting on trance-music with a newly met school friend Jan Waterman, Paul got his hands on some software, where created his own thing. It wasnt for another 3 years, before his music started to get
heard.
2002 brought him into contact with Raz Nitzan, A&R of Fundamental
Recordings; what seemed one of the key moments later. Ever since, Raz has
been my mentor. Always supportive and willingly sharing his view on things;
it was him who signed my first release Waterfall. It was an absolute
milestone for me. I had never been so happy; I walked around with a smile on
my face for a couple of days!
During the years Paul has provided countless remixes for acts like Blank &
Jones, North Pole, Ronski Speed and A-Force & Yahel. "Always a pleasure to
slip a track into your own style", Paul says.
It was fall 2004 that his project with Filo & Peri from New York - Alaska-
was picked up by Tiësto, and selected for the Tiësto in Concert II DVD!
Early 2005 Paul Moelands joined forces with Menno de Jong, and started the
eye-opening Intuition Recordings record label. After just a few highly
acclaimed releases, it has been put on the map as the innovative trance
record label. Keeping up quality with every release, is one of our main
goals. Were aiming for credible releases, Menno explains.
Spring of the year 2005 brought the biggest achievement so far. Again Tiësto
(at that time voted number 1 DJ in the world, for the third time in a row)
selected Palma Solane, collaboration with Belgian melody magician Jonas
Steur, for the In Search Of Sunrise 4 compilation CD. Paul tells, to be
selected for such an awesome compilation, is an awesome feeling and a great
honor! When I got the news I was absolutely speechless.
2006 brought a lot of special things, especially the release of Paul’s debut
album “Re:Locate – Rogue”. Much anticipated, and positively received,
unofficially crowned album of the year, Rogue caused some great buzz around
the Re:Locate alias! With collaborations with Jonas Steur, Menno de Jong,
MIDOR, Thomas Bronzwaer and vocalists Susana and Rebekka, it’s truly a
diverse trance album. The track “Rogue” even made it into the Mega Top 100
in Holland!
2007 kicked off in style! Remixing “Ferry Corsten –
Beautiful” one of the highlights, but more than that, was the world
exclusive DJ Debut in Poland. 10000 clubbers witnessed the kick off to what
seems to become a hell of a DJ career! Make sure to witness one of Paul’s
Re:Locate DJ showcases in a club near you!
"And where to find me in a couple of years? The future
will tell, Paul concludes.
