Thanks to the 8,000 visitors who have now checked this site and to those who have come to gigs and bought CDs. The single version of 'My Last Refuge' is available here along with 'Who'll Tell Me' both produced and arranged with the amazing Pete Johnston; (cover designs by Basement South). I've waited a long time to work with a producer and these are the first from a repertoire of a hundred awaiting attention. It's slow progress, so I'm also developing the slightly rougher productions you can hear here on my own
YOU can buy my earlier, wholly unplugged album 'Our Story' (15 tracks for $15) by clicking on the CD Baby button above, or directly from me for £5. Another method is via this link to iTunes where it costs £7.99 or 79p per track.
The album got a great review in 'Musician' magazine (Winter 2007). They say I have a "compelling" voice, "an intriguing lyrical style", and I am an "emotive troubadour" who is "very promising". Apart from that they focused on empathy with exploited and "doomed" workers in the song 'Nearer To The Farther Shore' -about the Cockle Pickers who died in Morecambe Bay (hear an amazing Brass Band and piano arrangement of the original song by Pete Johnston here). 'Nearer To The Farther Shore' is dedicated to those cockle pickers who tragically lost their lives in Morecambe Bay. The sheet music for it was published in an arts journal 'Printed Project' launched at Venice Biennale this June.
. Thank you.
A new book about migrant workers by a friend who focuses on the Cockle Picker tragedy can be found at Amazon here.
A live performance from a year ago of my song 'Tough Love' can be viewed below. More performances have been uploaded to my You Tube channel here.
On the album and some new tracks you can sometimes hear studio contributions from my amazing and wonderful partner and muse -the artist Bada Song.
Many thanks to the magnificent Emma Wilson who got me started with her Live nights. her Link is on my TOP friends, also for the suppport of Dave at Bedsprings, and Simon at the London Songwriters Circle.
My album 'Our Story' -from which the basic recording of 'Nearer To The Farther shore is taken - was recorded at Iguana Studios Brixton with the help of the warm and talented Andrea Terrano, Vasken Arslanian, Ruben Engzell and Tom Linden -all getting very nice sounds from my rapid 'snapshot' aproach to recording.
Thanks to 'basementsouth' the amazing webdesigners and I.T. supporters. Thanks to Banjonet (www.banjonet.com) for computer use and CD copying.
Massive thanks of course to Pete Johnston, and old friends Stereo MCs who give me encouragement, mysterious guidance and technical advice, and also to another old friend, the innovative generative arts composer and musician John Eacott who played his trumpet on 'My Last Refuge'.
People recently said of me: "Your music is beautiful, its feels very light, soothing and optimistic despite the subject matter. I think it's due to the wonderful delivery :) Your voice is just lovely!" & "... I've been to a couple of your shows ... Your music is very cool and relaxed and honest."
LOVE LIFE, LOVE YOUR SELF, find your own honesty, LOVE THOSE WHO LOVE YOU
