Born in the Amazon River Delta, Paulo began playing music in the church. Later, he studied at the Carlos Gomes Conservatory of Music where he won a scholarship to study in the USA at Columbia University in Missouri.
At 17, he moved to Europe and began studies at the Superior Conservatory of Music and Dance of Paris. He was the first latin american to study in the Jazz and Improvisational Music program there. He studied there for 3 years.
Paulo has been privileged to study with the finest of Jazz musicians: Francois Jeanneau, David Liebman, Steve Coleman,Rick Margitza, Michael Brecker, George Russell, Lee Konitz.... He continues to study with Charlie Banacos, going on 4 years.
His name can be found on a variety of Cds and has appeared with many fine artists: Bibi Ferreira, Zeze Motta, Caetano Veloso, Joao Bosco, Bebel Gilberto,Nana Vasconcelos.... and grammy nominee, Duduka da Fonseca.
Presently residing in NY/USA, Paulo continues to work internationally in Europe, Asia and Brazil.

Aos 17 anos Paulo mudou-se para europa aonde estudou frances e ingles ingressando assim no CSMDP em Paris aonde foi o primeiro latino Americano a fazer parte a classe de jazz e musicas de carater improvisacional{ver jazz europeu}
Paulo teve o privilegio de Aprender com professores renomados dessa categoria tais como: Francois Jeanneau, David Liebman, Steve Coleman, Michael Brecker, Wynton Marsalis, George Russell, Joe Lovano, lee konitz … e ate hoje ainda estuda com Charlie Banacos.
O nome de Paulo levi aparece em varios cds como tambem trabalhou ao lado de alguns artistas como Bibi Ferreira, Zeze Motta, Caetano Veloso, Joao Bosco, Claudio Nutti, Bebel Gilberto, Herbie Hancock, Roy Hargrove, Nana Vasconcelos, e o nominado ao grammy Duduka da Fonseca.
Aos 25 anos mudou-se para New York/ USA aonde continua seus trabalhos de pesquisa fazendo eixo com Asia, Europa e Brasil.

Paulo Thank you so much for touring with me in Japan. You are amazing musician!! amazing sensitive sound! Everybody in Japan went to crazy about your sound,music and everybody loves your personality. I had great time and I really appreciate you could be there playing music with me. I know it was hard tour moving place to place crazy everyday non stop and thank you so much for your patience.
I won't forget. I will improve more and hopefully I can take you next time too because everybody loves you! every performance people were screaming your name!! Paulo! Namakemono! paulo!
It was great opportunities that everybody from local place could have chance to hear you and know you. Most of the time you played Blue note or Hotel, Kepel san was happy to hear so close to you.
