A mixture of dark meets light, a teaspoon of folk, a smattering of rock, a half cup of blues and about 75 mls of country with a pop icing and sprinkles of love lost on top.
If The Peachfish belived in any philosophy (and they believe in many) it’s that music can be at it’s best when it’s stripped to the bone - musically and emotionally.
The Peachfish has always been Deb Suckling on vocals and guitars and Craig Spann on guitars. They also play together in noise rock outfit Brindle. Of late though, the wonderful Vicki Waston (Aamperillas, Kewpie Doll) has joined in with some voice, guitars and songs.
Over the past five years, the band has toured all over Australia and overseas, supporting the likes of Cat Power, Clare Bowditch, Pete Murray, Bill Chambers and many more incredible artists.
A couple years back, they released their debut album Roses For June. Recorded in their home on a typically steamy Brisbane day, the album is the sound of to people talking to eachother through their music.
There’s a little bit of everything in there - country, folk, droney rock - and that’s the way they like it. The only goal is to make music that’s totally honest.
Plans are afoot for a new record late 2008.
Brother Man Dude & All Wooden Dolls @Stones Corner Hotel, Sat July 5th.
See Brother Man Dude at Stones Corner Hotel with fun funksters All Wooden Dolls. Brother Man Dude will play songs from FAME and INFAMY, a twin CD Song Writing Retrospective which compiles all the best from his various bands and projects over the last 15 years. Each CD represents a different side of the Brother Man Dude coin.
FAME is pop music and a desire to be taken seriously (Heads). Flip the coin over and INFAMY is humour and a desperate need to be noticed (Tails). Fame or Infamy. Make your call. Heads or Tails. Is this a joke? Call Tails for Infamy! Are you serious? Call Heads for Fame.
Brother Man Dude will take his cue from you. It’s about audience participation. Work out where to stand. Do you want serious music or novelty songs? Heads or Tails......Can’t decide? He’s happy to toss a coin. Serious music for Heads; a Novelty song for Tails.
It’s all about working Brother Man Dude out. Fame or Infamy. Make your call. Buy Fame or buy Infamy or just buy both - at gigs and selected record stores.
