Peter Nevins is another new singer-songwriter that in my humble opinion brings something to the Montréal folk scene. He is from NYC, but lived here since a few months. Imagine someone living in 1908, 1966 and 2009 in the same time and writing and performing his song on abouzouki! Lots of imagination, colours, true emotions and personnality. I'm happy and proud to have worked with him and sure that some peoples out there will share my enthusiasm.
“My own guess is that if you taught a very impressionable 17th century troubadour all about Syd Barrett, Donovan, Stephin Merritt, and the Lower East Side as it is today, he would most likely end up sounding something like this inimitable man.” - Gabriel Guma, NYC Event Promoter
"When people ask me where I'm from, I don't know what to say anymore."
Music has been the thread of continuity between San Francisco, NYC and Montréal for this 8 string bouzouki playing modern troubadour. Concise, melodic songs of 3 minutes or under are like sketches in a travel log from Peter Nevins as he continues to till new soil.
Charting a new course beyond guitar driven folk, with one hand reaching into the distant past and another into the future, it's difficult for Peter Nevins to walk through doors with his arms extended thus, without turning sideways.
hope to see you in germany in april! any plans to come to frankfurt? if you need a show, let me know! i'll be in new york in march, so hopefully we'll meet there too sometime!
