REVIEWS
"The interplay among Pickford and Hunt is quite simply amazing. The arrangements are really art in themselves. Pickford's many fluid solo explorations are extraordinary, and his highly advanced soloing prowess is something to be revered. Steve Hunt's keyboard sounds are masterfully textured and incredibly lush sounding. If this is the future of fusion, then the fusion genre is in good hands"

I did the Berklee thing graduating in 1991, then entered the real world and took all kinds of gig that took me around the globe a few times. Spent some time in NYC and even lived in New Orleans for a year copping the second line funk type grooves ala the Meters and George Porter. Had a quarter life crisis after spending Thanksgiving in Düsseldorf Germany and ended up going back to Boston and got my Masters Degree at the Conservatory in '96. I've been a working pro for over 20 years playing bass. I've played with some great musicians like Charles Haynes, Robert Walter, Aaron Goldberg, Matt Garrison, Mike Clark and the Headhunters, Brian Jordan, Donald Harrison, Brian Blade, Steve Hass, Jorge Rossy, Kai Eckhardt, Erik Jekebson, Dr. John, Scott Kinsey, Vinx, Steve Houghton, George Garzone, Dow Brain, Kei Akagi, Tiger's Baku, Greg Tardy, Antonio Sanchez, Steve Hunt, Bob Moses, and many others. Recorded what has become sort of a "post modern" jazz/fusion classic called "Blown Fuse" in collaboration with Steve Hunt. Check out some tracks while you are here.
I've been a college professor, had over a hundred private students, and I've traveled the world playing. I'm in the Bay Area of CA, my home state, now and digging it. I have my sites set on making another CD and then a live DVD. It will have killing players on it and should be pretty bad ass. Watch for it sometime in '08 if all goes well. If not then I'll get it out in 2009. As long as I get it out before 2012 when all hell is supposed to break loose.
For more information check out my website "Pick's Place" at http://www.lucaspickford.com. There you can pick up a copy of "Blown Fuse" or you can just go to http://www.cdbaby.com/pickford. Also, be sure to dig my father, Loren Pickford's CD's available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/lorenpickford. My old man is one of THE BEST modern jazz alto sax players in the US. No lie! He's bad ass and he taught me most everything I know.
"Pick's Place" has one one the biggest transcription libraries on the Internet (all instruments) everyone from Jaco to Victor Wooten, McLaughlin to Scofield, Corea, Hancock, Brecker, Coltrane and many more all for FREE!! Go learn from the Masters. To hell w/ music school! Save your $$ . Dig!!

The term 'talent deserving wider recognition" is most apt in this case, as the artist is undergoing such strife and poverty that might render any future projects impossible if no audience is available right now. Let us not make her another Van Gogh.
Thanks for the add! We actually met years ago in New Haven, I was playing with Laco Dezci at a jam session. Good to see your doing well! All the best- KG
That's my new CD, "Deacon Blues", the straight ahead organ trio I've been wanting to do for years. It's getting great reviews and lots of radio play - and it's only Jazz; Go figure! The CD features some good friends, including two of my favorite guitarists, Mike DeMicco and the phenomenal Joe Beck. Danny Gottlieb lays down the groove with my brother Tony guesting on bass for a couple of tracks.
The CD is available on line at AMAZON.COM or at WOODSTOCK CD where they also have artist-signed copies in stock. (arguably making them worth less!)
