Pneuma was born in 2002, with four guys with a taste for thrash metal, death metal and progressive rock. In the first couple of years pneuma earned a good reputation in the metal and in the progressive scene, recording in 2003 their first EP "A run Through...", with a progressive metal approach.
In 2005 along with Decembers Cold Winter, pneuma went on a tour that included many dates in the outer regions of Costa Rica and Panama called "The Awakening tour"(more info www.awakeningtour.com)which made a big impact in the metal scene of the area and also captured the attention of the local media.
In 2005 Pneuma was voted by the users of the web-page La escapatoria, best band of the year proving that the more agressive direction the band took, in a thrash metal, metalcore vein with a progressive edge was making an impact in the scene. In that same poll, the band took home best local concert of the year for their "Awakening Tour" efforts.
In 2006 Pneuma signed with Freak World Entertaiment, a local indie label, and are currently undergoing the recording process of their first professional studio album, which will be entitled "Screaming at the Gates". This will hopefully be Pneuma's ticket to reach a much more wider audience. The album is expected to be released in November 2008.
