Polaris is a 5 piece progressive metal band based out of Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The band combines technical instrumentation and creative songwriting with powerful vocals and a sheer intensity, to create one of the most original progressive sounds available these days. The original lineup, consisting of vocalist/lyricist Olivia Berka, and guitarist/songsmith Tristan Bellerive, along with the rhythm secion Rob Massoud (bass) and Lee Dias (Percussion) wrote and recorded the "Seven Arrows" CD over the course of 2003/2004. Dias and Massoud parted ways with the band shortly after the recording, and the band was on hiatus until Autumn 2006, with a new lineup complete. Bass duties were taken by John Andonian, a veteran of the music scene with several bands and personal projects under his belt. The band added a second guitarist, Ian Shultz, formerly of Inflicted, to add a new dimension to the Polaris sound. The ever elusive role of drummer was filled by the skillful hands of Chris Helme, currently of The Accursed and Smite The Righteous. With the new lineup solidified, the live show was brought to the Boston area with several successful gigs in October and November. The incredible live performance, skillful songwriting on the records, and the promise of new material have garnered Polaris the attention of many media outlets worldwide. Polaris hopes to continue to fund their music making effort throughout 2008, with amazing reinforcement from fellow bands, magazines, websites, and most of all - dedicated fans, and hopes to bring their stage show to a venue near you in the coming year!
"With that first disc of most promising progmetal out and a second cd in the works, Polaris are definitely the band to watch. It's not often you come across a band that is equally progressive and intense, both technical and melodic without losing sight of the song. Anyone who cares about strong melodies, fine and versatile playing and a singer who breathes life into every word she's written, should give Polaris a serious listen"
