After seven years in differing line-ups, some demo’s, one MCD, countless cool shows around the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and a lot of other nice places around Europe, PROGRESS is signing off. We had a blast, but the party had to end sometime.
This decision was a hard one to make. But sometimes hard decisions are necessary and some things are better to be ended. We had an awesome time on the road, playing the music we love and saying the things we thought were necessary to say in troubled times like these. These kids have had their say.
We did finish some demorecordings (recorded live in our rehearsal space so they're not a 100% top notch of course ;) of new songs, which will be up on myspace pretty soon. Go check it out. Hope you enjoy them!
No doubt, new projects will be formed and the members of this band will be back up on stage in no time. You cannot kill the music.
As for PROGRESS. We truly hope you all enjoyed the shows. We know we did. Cheers to all the good people we met on the road and all the new friends we made over the years. Everybody who ever put up a show for us, gave us a floor to sleep on, gave us food to eat or made us feel at home from home. Never forget that it meant the world to us.
Disillusioned by the way punkrock and hardcore had evolved over the last couple of years PROGRESS decided that it was time to recreate something old. not because they wanted to do something that had already been done, but to do something they believed in: make hardcore punk with a message. After tons of shows with bands and friends like Age of Panic, Backfire, No Trigger, No Turning Back, the Butcher, On Fire, 1000 Miles Ahead, Uppercut, Set your goals or Antillectual - and some major line-up changes the band is still going strong in 2008 and finally presents their long awaited debut mcd 'the crosses we bear'.
Being lyricly and musically influenced by bands such as Bad Religion, Good Riddance, Gorilla Biscuits, Strike Anywhere and Comeback Kid, PROGRESS as a band chooses to walk the path of most resistance by singing about compassion and understanding in a world where most bands scream about not giving a fuck. Somewhere between punkrock and hardcore you'll find them. The best of both worlds: raw yet melodic, fast and furious. Socially aware, leftwinged but realistic in opinions and ideology.
"As the clouds of our idea's are spreading on, we are waking up the minds of those sleeping far too long"
