PROGRESSION BY FAILURE is a project created by Nicolas Piveteau, a young musician who plays keyboards but also guitars, drums… this first album is composed by seven instrumental tracks, including a 22 minutes epic. Nicolas is influenced by all progressive bands, especially modern ones. His musical world may recall Tomas Bodin, or E.L.P., here or there, but the atmospheres are quite diverse, from bombastic symphonic, or neo-classic, rock to soft melancholic moods conveyed by fragile and delicate piano parts. Sometimes the music is approaching desperate, gothic atmospheres ala OPETH, and sometimes there’s just a subtle melodious sequence ala CAMEL: a very promising album, inspired and well played.....

Some reviews of the first album :
<"For a first album this is really a superb work, with a top notch production, fine mix, tasteful arrangements and mature compositions. It's almost 70 minutes long and yet I think it is too short. I just can't get enough of it. It's very elaborate, complex, beautiful symphonic prog music at its best." Progarchives 5/5
"This CD will appeal mainly to fans of keyboard-driven, fusion based instrumental progressive rock. Fans of more concise and conservative music should approach with caution. I can think for improvement for this fine project. Can't wait for a sophomore release." DPRP 9,5/10

"[...] Irrefutably, the fellow has a real inspiration, and an indisputable talent to orchestrate it. Very good! "Cosmomusic.fr
"[...] From a purely technical point of view, talent is there, unquestionably. Inspired, but not only, Piveteau lets leak out in the course of pieces an already well asserted personality, and shows that he does not content himself with writing« like». Melodic and wild, calm and sweltering, the various parts of the album confer on it a finally rather peculiar ambience, a small feat in a middle saturated with plagiarisms and with easy resumptions.
