PULSHAR / SACRIFICE OF LOVE + MANTISTYLE RMX / PHONOBOX007

PULSHAR / BROTHERHOOD 2CD / PHONOBOXCD001

Pulshar is the collaborative dub house project of sometime tech house heads Pablo Bolivar and Aphro Sainz. 'Dub by the river' eases us into the LP with a clinically clean dub house effort with tasteful Balearic elements, before dropping the imaginative dub house reworking of The Stranglers skaggy classic 'Golden Brown'. There's a defined Balaeric theme running throughout the album, although popular single 'Nospheratu' takes a more reggae structured approach, but the wispy vocals and slickly manipulated rhythms of the rest of it are purely for the sun loungin' crew, that isn't to say it'll sound any worse if you're listening to it in Billingham than San Antonio. Buy into it.
PULSHAR / BROTHERHOOD REMIXED / PHONOBOX006

Sven Weisemann is only twenty-three years old, but already he's carved out a niche which is unmistakably his own. As a producer, his music draws deeply on the legacy of Chicago and Detroit, yet somehow manages to end up sounding as fresh as a daisy. A self-taught musician who plays piano, acoustic guitar and percussion, Weisemann also composes jazz and soundtracks, traditions which also influence his house records no doubt, many of which you can find on new German labels such as Liebe Detail, Styrax Leaves and especially Mojuba, where Weisemann's music slots together with friends Nick Solé and Oracy to form a distinct, and highly collectible, label sound.
PULSHAR / NOSPHERATU (Echospace reduction) / PHONOBOX005

Welcome to the deepest nightmare of Pulshar, welcome to Nospheratu's territory. An unforgettable trip into the darkest side of the band's soul, inspired by the cult movie Nospheratu , this is one of the greatest dub and melancholic tracks of the year. A trippy bass and envolving melodies for an instant bloody dub joy. Rod Modell and Steven Hitchell take the controls on the B side and produce one of their best reworks yet under their Echospace alias. They have reduced the original track to a deep and emotional piece. A majestic cavalcade into dub techno, a composition full of rich textures which remind of a cloudy day in Detroit city; accompanied by a subtle conga that kicks off from the middle of nowhere and turns out really smooth, deep & dark. A little different than the material from their album on Modern Love, more reduced into the Deepchord sound, a little more scaled back.
PULSHAR / BABYLON FALL COLLECTION EP / PHONOBOX004

Hypnotic and deep soundscapes, a bass-line full of soul and sensuality, contemporary ambient-dub… highly addictive music from the very first listen. Pulshar is influenced by Hip-Hop and Blues, Dub Reggae and Psychedelic Rock, showing exquisite taste playing with loops and samplers, and great skill in creating distinctive catchy melodic rhythms. The music and voice of Pulshar are unique. Layers of evolving sounds and rich ancestral textures that take us on a journey where space and time become intertwined and confused. Are Pulshar a divine revelation? The foundations of a new era where soul and electronic music stay together thanks to this solid and advanced musical performance. To get lost in Pulshar is a highly recommendable experience.
