"The Pace Of Our Feet" - Release July 12th - The Rymer Art Gallery
The Pace Of Our Feet is the fruition of an accidental idea—an unexpectedly large fish smiling back through an aimlessly cast net. An idea one would be pretentious to proclaim as unique, yet equally unwise to ignore: the idea of communicating inspiration through multiple mediums. The Pace Of Our Feet combines visual art and literature with music in an attempt to capture both the eyes and the ears.
The songwriters of “Quote,” Jamie Bennett and Justin Tam, set out to tell a few tales, some tall, some true. Each narrative began simply, with a tune and a lyric. The sweltering summer of 2007 produced recordings of these songs with the aid of Nashville’s finely tuned ears and Ireland’s strings. “Quote” then recruited the trusted pens and brushes of authors and visual artists to translate their sound into ink and paint.
After a year of patient prodding and pushing, fussing and fuming, “quote” has managed to finish The Pace Of Our Feet. So find the nearest tree or closest riverbank, stop your watch for a while, and cast an open net.
Press:
"...Nashville duo "quote" have contributed a sleeper classic to the folk/sing-songwriter canon. Not only do the pair spin engaging narratives, but producer Mike Odmark weaves exquisite mixes around them. Intimate yet spacious, the songs exist as freestanding milieus for the moods and characters residing within. While harmonies boom, other instruments creak, other instruments creak, shimmy and groan in the background. Fittingly, The Pace Of Our Feet comes with accompanying artwork, (prose), and poetry."
- The Nashville Scene
"Now these gentlemen have a fine way with words. 'Standing on the Ocean' (is) just the kind of song that the Eagles wish they could write nowadays."
- Blues Bunny
"...a stunning production, intriguing songwriting, and a breath of fresh air from this Nashville group."
- Matt Morelock - WDVX - The Blue Plate Special
