About me: Natural narcissistic tendencies aside I do not enjoy writing about myself. All that should matter to anyone interested in who I am is that I am a lifelong student of all things horror related. I have spent too much of my time obsessing over films that most people laugh about. I continue to do so even though I am cognizant of this. At age forty three it is apparent this behavior will continue, unabated, for I’ve no intention of changing my ways. No, I don't have any of Moore's stuff, but I was aware that Phil was on Back on the Streets. I just never took time to listen to Moore's stuff, but after seeing that tribute concert I may! Yeah, the first three albums are kinda weak, but the third, Vagabonds of the Western World is pretty good, it has Vagabond, The Rocker, Gonna Creep up on You and Whiskey in the Jar on it. I just downloaded a seven volume bootleg collection called "Phil : The Man and his Music" it's 101 tracks of demos, rares, unreleaseds, lives and soundchecks.....I have nearly everything Phil ever did now. lol
Yeah, the Gorham/Robertson/Downey Lynott line up is the best, but still they have so many good songs from each of the eras. Also I recently watched the Gary Moore tribute concert DVD of the concert they did for Phil the day after his statue went up in 2005 and I gotta say that Moore is awesome and is probably the only guy i'd fully accept in place of Lynott as vocalist for Lizzy. In recent years it's been John Sykes(who recently left), I didn't really like him on vocals. no one can replace Phil's vocals, but if they are going to continue with the name Thin Lizzy, I hope it's Moore who they get next - but I don't know if he'd want to do it.
As for favorite record it's hard for me to choose lol Bad Reputation had some good cuts, like the title track, "Dancing in the Moonlight", Opium Trail" and "That Woman's Gonna Break You're heart" I really like the Johnny the Fox album. I have all of the studio albums and the live albums, I but them on mp3 discs that way each disc has about 90 songs each. lol The Peel session cds that were recorded for live BBC radio are awesome....they were even better as a live band.
I was born in 1982, right as Lizzy was ending, but I have always felt I should've been a teen in the 70s. lol
Hell yeah man, Lizzy, in my opinion is the best band ever formed and Lynott was the greatest performer to ever live. People give too much credit to Hendrix, for me, Phil is my Hendrix..
