HISTORIQUE :

En 1997, le centre culturel de Raismes a été sollicité par un groupe de personnes intéressées par le rock, style Metal, Rock Progressif, avec l’envie d’organiser sur la ville un festival. Un comité d’organisation s’est ainsi créé, regroupant une vingtaine de personnes. Depuis, le « Raismesfest » se veut à la fois un plateau ouvert aux groupes de renommée internationale tout en restant un « tremplin » pour les groupes régionaux. Le choix de l’affiche du festival, sa promotion et son organisation font l’objet d’une concertation avec ce « groupe de travail » , toujours dans un esprit de dialogue et d’échange.

Pourquoi un festival :

- Offrir une scène à un style de musique dont on peut dire qu’il est censuré par les médias : pas d’émission de télévision ou radiophoniques en France. Le public existe pourtant : à quelques kilomètres, de l’autre côté de la frontière, les festivals belges attirent plusieurs milliers de personnes.

- L’expérience à Raismes est unique dans la région. A côté de groupes « bien rodés », à l’expérience acquise, le festival de Raismes associe à chaque fois les groupes régionaux qui foisonnent et qui n’ont, malheureusement que très rarement l’occasion de jouer dans des conditions professionnelles.

HISTORY

In 1997, a group of people interested in Metal and Progressive Rock music, came to the Cultural Department of Raismes Town Hall with the desire for organizing a festival. A Steering Committee was thus created, gathering a score of people. Since then, the "Raismesfest" wants to be at the same time an open place to the bands of international fame while remaining a "springboard" for the regional ones. The choice of the programmation of the festival, its promotion and its organization is subject of discussions in this "working group", always in a spirit of dialogue and exchange. 


Why a festival: 

- To offer a stage to a style of music which one can say that it is censured by the media: no television or radiophonic broadcasting in France. The public however exists: a few kilometers from Raismes, on the other side of the border, the Belgian festivals attract several thousands of people. 

- the experiment in Raismes is unique in the area. Concurrently to "well established" and experienced bands, the festival of Raismes associates each time regional bands which abound and do not have unfortunately often the opportunity to play under professional conditions.
