Bio
Random Abiladeze is an acclaimed hip-hop artist/spoken word poet from Sacramento, CA. His lyrical content has a unique balance of style, wisdom, and humor. With the release of his latest album, “Skill Before Swagger” (produced entirely by AdamBomb), touring throughout the west coast remains his primary method of spreading the word. Heavily influenced by the likes of 2pac, Slick Rick, Nas, and Guru. After accepting a dare to rap as an adolescent, Random remained focused on rap and quickly became serious about making his message heard through hip-hop. Random’s viral video, “Kitchen Raps” (collaboration with Leejay Abucayan and Ruby Ibarra), was featured by Vh1’s “Best Week Ever” in 2010. He was voted Most Outstanding Emcee in the 2010 & 2009 SAMMIE Awards, presented by the Sacramento News & Review. 2-time champion of Stanford University’s “Battle of the Bay” Poetry Slam. 2-time champion of Hip-Hop Congress’ “Got Spit?” Poetry Slam. Named “Poet of the Month” by Youth Speaks. Shared Stages with: Nas, Tech N9ne, Immortal Technique, KRS-One, Living Legends, EPMD, Little Brother, Zion-I, Pigeon John, Planet Asia, and Taalam Acey. Played at festivals inlcuding: Whole Earth Festival (UC Davis) Bobolink Festival - (Belden, CA) Las Tortugas Festival (Yosemite, CA) Sacramento Area Music Awards Fest One Root Festival (Roseville, CA) Art of Hip-Hop Festival (Stockton, CA) Sacramento Peace Fest Since 2007, Random Abilabeze has branched out into the realm of public speaking and youth outreach; both independently and with organizations, such as: Youth Speaks, Placer County Peer Court, Californians For Justice, Youth Noise, and more. Conducting writing workshops and delivering speeches to promote healthy life choices to thousands of students at 20+ schools, from grades k-12 and at the university level. Accompanied by the beat or amidst silence, Random Abiladeze continues to use the power of the the word to reach audiences from multiple backgrounds and age groups. With 4 releases under his belt (3 solo, 1 group), there is plenty of Random's music to fulfill any faithful listener’s desires. With the upcoming release of archived material from his side group project, Manyone, and a new solo album with production by AdamBomb set for release in 2011, there’s much to look forward to in the near future.
