RASAL.ASAD is an ambient / drone / hypnotic escapism music project founded by Fernando Luis Abreu Cerqueira some years ago and so far has released 9 albuns and appeared in several compilations and remixed Implant, Mimetic, etc.
Fernando Cerqueira, an enigmatic freelosopher, started is activities in the mid 80..s with his fanzine Atonal along with the electronic / industrial project CRONIAMANTAL which never released any album, some people say, despite the invitations they refused, only contributing for nacional and international compilations along with Clock Dva, Young Gods, Dive, Fini Tribe, Ah Cama - Sotz, Bourbonese Qualk, Von Magnet among many others.
His first adventure in setting up a music label was with SPH at the beginning of the 90..s which released 60 works with highlights such as JIM O..OROURKE , MERZBOW, KLIMPEREI, UWE ZAHN ( Arovane), MENTALO & THE FIXER, FEKTION FEKLER, INNANA, X RAY SPEX, SUICIDE COMMANDO, SYMBOLIKS ( Transglobal Underground), BRUME, ODE FILIPICA, CRONIAMANTAL, CRAWLING WITH TARTS( Michael Gendreau), MAEROR TRI(Troum), HATERS, TELECTU and many others.
In the 80..s opens one of the first cheap date/second hand clothing shop which was not intended merely as business but more as an art project.
Besides his musical projects he opened a seminal bookshop in Lisbon called LIGOTAGE which was a gathering for people interested in fringe/counterculture/occulture books like Re-Search, Body Play, Fethish, S & M, Drugs, Body Art, Archaic Revival, Topy, Alternative Lifestyles, Gaia, Apocalypse, Satanism, Erotica.
After some years of sucess the bookshop closed the doors and re-opened at ZDB - Art Gallery in Lisbon.
During that time, others Fernando Cerqueira activities included his involvement and promotion of TOPY ( Thee Temple ov Psychic Youth ) and Transmedia Foundation in Portugal, psychedelic books research for FLASHBACK Books ( mr. Horowitz, curator of Timothy Leary and father of Winona Rider ).Involved in the production of concerts like, Young Gods, Non, Mimetic, Current 93, Death in June, Jorge Reyes, In the Nursery, Rapoon, Von Magnet.
This ultraterresterial being is also involved in the collective/record label THISCO which released so far albums from RAPOON, MERZBOW, JARBOE, KK NULL, MIMETIC, PHIL VON, ALAN COURTIS, SHHH..., ULTRA MILKMAIDS, L..EGO, SPIES, SCI-FI INDUSTRIES, SAMUEL JERÓNIMO, [ F.E.V.E.R.], LASSE MARHAUG, RASAL.ASAD, PHIL VON, RANDY GRIEF, and many many others.
