Sounds Like
A cross between 60's, 70's, 90's, and current rock music, I have been told I sound vocally like Cat Stevens, or Harry Chapin. I guess I have a unique sound. The music I have been influenced by would be The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Ray Charles, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Ten Years After, Chris Isaac, and the list goes on and on. I've been influenced by Blues like Howlin Wolf, Rolling Stones in the early years, 60's & 70's pop rock, 90's grunge. The music now is just awesome.
I have just finished my second CD "CLOSER">if you would like a copy send $10 too

Ray Cooke sings with deep passion and gorgeous vocals when he performs his original songs inspired by life experiences and love. A native Rhode Islander who now resides in Foster, Ray began writing in his teens and completed his first song, Lonely Gerl, at the age of 18. He's been honing and refining his acoustic music ever since. His first CD, Chasin' the Bliss, has been well received locally and showcases Ray's strong vocals and haunting lyrics. Performing around the New England area for the past twenty years, Ray has been compared to Cat Stevens and James Taylor. He has an amazing stage presence and it's easy to get lost in his lyrics. Ray's repertoire includes covers from Eric Clapton to the Rolling Stones but it's his original melodies that make him a unique talent. He is a member of the Rhode Island Songwriters Association. Ray is working on his second CD. It's scheduled to come out in 2007.
Ray currently performs other Thursday night at the Victoria Station Cafe in Pomfret, CT at 7 pm. He performs every Saturday night at The Village Bean Deli & Cafe in N. Scituate, RI at 7 pm. To see all his upcoming shows, go to www.musi-cal.com, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and search for Ray Cooke.
"I still search for the song everybody dreams of writing. I write about life and love and hopefully my songs touch people in some way. I've always believed that good vocals make a band - good vocals combined with a good story. I hope I have both." Ray Cooke

Hey Ray, It was fun...Skip will be splitting the CD and giving it to me...If you're there sooner than I am, you can ask him for it. I don't need the recording. Perhaps Jim would want a copy though. Otherwise, I'll get in a couple months when I see Skip. We'll have to do that again sometime somewhere... Jan
Thank you so much Ray! It was so lovely of you to come, and it was a pleasure to meet you in person. Hope to catch your show sometime sooner rather than later.
