RAZOR RAY WRBC 91.5 Metal/Rock/Hardcore/Punk

Who I'd like to meet:

I grew up in CENTRAL MAINE in the late 60's + 70's in an Extremely Musical Family with everyone taking up instruments, and all playing/singing from an early age creating an environment where some days us 5 kids would wake up, go into the music room, and Jam all day with Dad/Mom joining in the mix too(MAINLY COUNTRY MUSIC). My parents instilled a great work ethic in myself + siblings, and also the notion that nothing was possible without hard work and dedication. I witnessed the ups + downs of the Music industry through my parents' COUNTRY BAND which in the early 70's was probably the most popular band of its kind in the State of MAINE with massive airplay, huge record sales, and press coverage EVERYWHERE. My Dad wrote a song about the " 470 ", THE LAST STEAM LOCOMOTIVE TO RUN THE RAILS IN MAINE and the song had National spins, and sold eventually to Merle Haggard. I was lucky enough to have met COUNTRY LEGENDS INCLUDING - JOHNNY CASH + JUNE CARTER, BUCK OWENS, BILL ANDERSON, JOHNNY PAYCHECK, LORETTA LYNN, ROY CLARK, BOBBY BEAR, TAMMY WYNETTE, FARON YOUNG, Freddy Fender and many more as my parents opened for a lot of these Legendary performers. Sometimes I even had the opportunity to perform with these artists at the tender age of 5-10 years old. My oldest brother and drummer of the Family group " EDDIE BOY " introduced me to the poisons of early METAL/LOUD ROCK with the likes of BLOODROCK, DEEP PURPLE, PAT TRAVERS, SILVERFISH, BLACK SABBATH, MOLLY HATCHET, ZEPPELIN, AND OTHERS who set the METAL to come out for me by age 11...VAN HALEN, OZZY, PRIEST, rolled me into all of the Hair Bands of 1980. Here is when my life changed in a huge way. A new indie record store opened called the RECORD CONNECTION in Waterville, Maine. I was able to acquire through this store several Import Albums + Picture Discs, Kerrang + Sounds Magazine,+ Rare Albums and rejected promos(THRASH METAL + ALL the early METALLICA) from WTOS RADIO and other local stations that would not spin these bands' music because it was deamed "TOO HEAVY" for the format!! The MD (who got paid peanuts playing wimpy rock) would sell promos to us kids to make his car payment + rent. The dude would bring 300 records over to the shop each week, and RAZOR RAY and a few other scavengers would pick every heavy artist for a $ 1.00 each or less. Here in 1981 is where I found the FIRST QUIET RIOT import featuring RANDY RHOADS! I contacted the virtually unknown bands' Singer, Kevin, who was looking for a Fan Club person on the East Coast and anyone outside of Los Angeles who would listen to the band and help promote them.. I filled the position, Randy went on to becoming a Legend with Ozzy, and Quiet Riot became legends in their own right a couple of years later after the Major Label debut was released in 1983 with Metal Health. This led me to HELIX and several other National/Indie/Local bands on labels DOING FAN CLUB AND PUBLICITY WORK. I Worked as Publicist for hundreds of LABELS + BANDS over the years... AND THEN STARTED working in RADIO as Metal Director AT WMHB in 1987. I moved to Auburn in 1994 and became METAL DIRECTOR AT WRBC with the Departure of DEATH METAL GOD + FORMER RELAPSE PROMO GURU - PELLET!! I have MET,Interviewed, PARTIED, HAD STAY AT MY HOUSE, TOOK TO THE DENTIST, AND CLEANED UP PUKE for just about everyone I can think of in the National Heavy Scene from 85- til the Present.....ROCK ON EVERYONE!!!
