About me:

One to look out for in the future is richarDJames, a very talented 30yr old from sunny Belfast, N.Ireland.

richarDJames has been DJ'ing for 11yrs, although only playing out in clubs during the last 4yrs or so. He got into music at an early age, and even before he purchased his first decks richarDJames was making tapes by cutting and splicing sections of early hardcore and Prodigy albums. He would do this directly from tapes just by recording sets of bars and then changing to another track. So in that way, he has taught himself how to mix before the decision was even made to purchase turntables.

It would be wrong to suggest that richarDJames doesn't deserve his big break, although some success has come his direction in the past.

In 2006 he represented Northern Ireland in the Movida/Corona World DJ Championships in Lucerne, Switzerland, finishing in a respectable 7th place.

Since then he has been invited to warm up for Dutch DJ Ohmna at Liquid Crystal Sounds, in Turku, Finland as well as holding down 2 residencies at Rise and Carbon, both of which are in Belfast and are run by Chris Cargo.

During this time richarDJames has played most clubs and bars in and around Belfast, including The Stiff Kitten, where he played a 2hr warm up slot for the multi-award winning globetrotters The Japanese Popstars and future star Aaron Shim. On the release front, richarDJames has had a jackin house mix let loose on Soultech Records.

In the May 2009 ( Volume 4/No. 73 ) issue of DJ MAG a mix from richarDJames was featured in the Pick 'n' Mix section, which is home to up-and-coming DJ's and producers. It was given the following write-up...

"NOT that Richard James! Instead, another Belfast brother, this time offering some decidedly deep grooves from Atjazz, Dixon, Master H and Milton Jackson. This is not just house, this is house, Richard James style!"

The end of July 2009 could see richarDJames mix his way to a gig at Ireland's famous Electric Picnic festival which is home to 25,000 revellers each year and and record a live mix for nationwide RTE Pulse Radio. These are the prizes for winning a competition in which he has already made it down to the last 16 from hundreds of entries. Watch this space...

At the minute the only way we can describe the sound of this talented star is "PROGNO". A fine blend of progressive and techno. However, his sets can usually encompass deep house, vocal house, tech-house, breaks, jackin house and the odd rarely heard classic just to keep things interesting.

Definitely one to watch...
