Rizky Rekordz was formed in early 2000 by 3 eagerly hiphopindo heads : Ferri (Lingo), John (Captain JD) both were known as the group Sweet Martabak & Ndru (Drusteelo / Soul ID). They created an outlet to showcase hiphop local talents when other doors were shut tight for this genre. It all started in the basement of Drusteelo house, actually they used his bathroom to record the vocals. Their first project was Ndru’s debut album in 2000, before he was called Drusteelo, the album tittle is Raputasi ( 17 tracks of raw hip hop). It was sold hand to hand and throughout the local distros. The album sold well beyond their expectation, and made Ndru a household name in Jakarta for his track Supa MC, and put him in the wall of fame in Prambors Radio alongside P Squad & Iwa K for the representative of local hip hop. Next project is the infamous compilation of PROVOCATEUR, 2001, containts 20 track of hungry MC’s and we’ve witness the birth of other local MC’s such as Tabib Qiu, Golfa and many more. And can u believe it the bootleg version sold more than the original ones, damn those pirate people!!!
Their third project was Doyz ( member of P Squad & Black Kumuh) as he step up the platform and re design the face of hiphopindo with his boombap rap & conscious message. His album Perspektif may be the blueprint for some local hiphop heads these days. Unfortunately the journey for Ferri & John was stop as they were focusing on other projects ( too bad da P Squad 2nd album was never finished). As Drusteelo fly solo, he formed a group called Soulid and went it to produce and released their 1st Album Esoyuelaidi ( 2004) in conjunction with GMG & Warner Music Indonesia. From then on Rizky Rekordz has tried to maintain it’s products and will to survive in this industry, where money talks and real talent walks.
